Yesterday I was thinking about how we always rag on couch riders for having fun going really fast in a straight line. I started to think about it and the fastest I've ever been on a couch was 65 on a GP1300R. At the time I thought it was pretty fun. I can't imagine how fun hitting 80mph would be.

Don't get me wrong standups will always be more fun, but some of these guys that are building some crazy fast couches over on Greenhulk seem like they're having a good time doing it and I can see why.

My guess is that most people that rag on couch riders for wanting to go fast in a straight line probably haven't seen really high speeds on a couch. I know most of you are going to say "I have never been that fast because I have never wanted to go that fast". Personally I've always liked fast cars, boats, and planes so I would like to see the 80's on a couch.

I rode a Riva stage 2 1300R that supposably did 73 and I thought that was to fast. I think there comes apoint where how fast is two fast.

I got up around 73 on a triple piped GPR and 70 on a modded Ultra. Fast, but didn't get a thrill out of either really. GPR's just feel mushy in the handling department to me, I'd rather ride an XPL.

Some of those boats will put a smerk on any guys face but I did like 2 passes on the RXP and just did not want to ride it anymore.........the speed was not as much fun as flicking the boat around.

I've done 62 on my freshly waxed honda. I also got hit in the face one time at about 60 by a large moth/butterfly type insect and it hurt pretty good. At 80+ I could see a sparrow or something knocking you off the ski.

The Speedo on my old bosses Ultra 150 said 82 but we all know it was really only going around 75 or so...he's had a lot of work done to it to get it to go that fast...but still i don't think we were actually goin over 80

I've read 64-66 on a stock FX140. Its anybody's guess what that gauge really means. Regardless. It feels FAST. No helmet or goggles, and the bugs take most of the fun away. I do agree with FLY though. Like Steve Buscemi said in Armageddon when sitting on the nuke, "feel the power between your legs brother." Or something like that.

Mark44 and I rode Riva's world record holder down at nashville a few years ago. The owner (can't remember who bought it from Riva) wanted to ride a standup so we traded. Don't know the exact speed but that thing would RIP. I am sure was way up there. You couldn't turn there was no handling aspect of the ski and there was no hole shot because it would just blow a hole in the water. You had to get going about 30 or so before you could hold it WOT. It was freekin amazing that somethign could pull that hard after you get to 30 or 40. It was pertty cool but after about 20 minutes I was tierd of going straight across the lake and wanted to trade back for my SJ.

Here is a picture of Mark44 with the ski I had a computer crash and lost my picture.

I've walked on a 100,000 dollar boat on a stock Honda.

76 on a triple piped SLTX is the fastest Ive seen on a PWC. Was too fast for my comfort level.

I've done 78 on a friends triple piped Ultra 150 on glass with every mod you can think about. He did some 79 mph runs on my GPS that day. Helluva rush going that fast though, just wouldnt want to wreck!

65 on a seadoo xp. That fetl pretty freakin' fast. I'd love to take out a couch that could do 80+, would I have the balls to take it up to that point I don't know but I'd love the opportunity.

My single pipe GPR would run 75MPH with everything set up for chop (more drag)
I rode my friends 83+ triple with great hole shot and arm ripping acceleration all the way up to the top.

If I ever put my GPR back together (this SJ thing is way too much fun) it should be an 80+ single piper.

I know,.....

If I were to sell all the GPR parts I have laying on my bench I bet I could get a couple round noses. You guys think the stand ups are expensive.:boggled:

It's not like I haven't thought about doing just that.
