Idk honestly...art/Jetworks gave me the long answer a few years back when he was setting up my blackjacks. He told me to avoid the 3's. However, I agree 100% with previous post about going with #zero's recommendations.

im running the the vf 3's on my jetworks 771 and they work great ! as far as which ones work better ,im not sure,i just know what works for me. i try not to get caught up in hype when making a decision, but i will listen to what people have to say and take that into consideration when making my choice.the way i see it is ,there are things that are proven, and there are things that still haven't been discovered . very rarely do they go backwards .

We have always used VF2's for freestyle with awesome results. At least for freestyle, VF2 are supposed to be better for low end and the VF3 more optimized to racing and top end power, at least that always seemed to be the word here on the X. These reeds really last well and that is great as well.

We have used them on basic 701 limited setups all the way up to BB781 and 850 ported setups.

but how do they compare ? did you actually use the stops for adjustment ?i remember that my 2's worked really well but i never spent any time adjusting i just set them at so my pedals would open as fast as they could and left them there .like the 3's come stock .but idk.

2's bottom end snap, 3's flying around the lake at top speed. The 3's open wider which increases top end and sacrifices bottom. If you have ever broken a reed pedal you have literally no bottom.
why more bottom end ,shape, flex ,what ?? what makes them better ? it seem the 12 pedal design would open just as quick as the earlier 6 pedal i was almost thinking it was more along the lines of fitment in the intake tract ?

i did speak to Zero and he said that he would stick with the oem cages and reeds as there could be fitment issues with the case stuffing. He recommended to me if I did choose to use them the 2's would be what he would use but I may need a spacer?.

I am going to get a set of 2's as I already have an ATP spacer I'm using and the ski is being setup for freestyle.

thanks guys

I ran the 2's on a R&D mani with a reed spacer on ported 62t cases and worked well.

Is a reed spacer benifisial? What does it actually do?

ehh...not especially. I'm on the fence. I have seen plenty of motors that don't use them that rip and some that do. It has it's theoretical value for supposed improvements in bottom and midrange snap. Most aftermarked reed setups have a spacer incorporated into the reed block. By spacing the reeds further back from all the combustion turbulence it prolongs reed life and is thought to improve fuel/oil atomization for more efficient combustion (from what I remember). I'd buy other stuff first.
