Freestyle Whats the cheapest/ easiest way to get a good freestyle ski?

Let me start by saying I am relativly new to stand ups, I have been riding for 3 summers now and feel like my ski is sort of strapping me down, Its a 650sx and I have gone through 3 handlebar poles doing stabs and attempting barrel rolls.
Basically, I am looking for the cheapest and easiest way to buy/ build a good freestyle ski, I was thinking about getting a sj or a fx1, I would really like to backflip or barell roll if thats possible without breaking the bank and I do all my riding on a lake with wakeboard boats puttin out about 4+ foot waves. Let me know what you guys think!

(P.S I have a 2009 ski-doo 600 RS I would trade someone for a sick freestyle ski)

Being able to flatwater backflip versus barrrel roll maybe a challenge depending on your budget. I've seen people do flatwater barrel rolls with a limited setup 701cc engine on a squarenose/roundnose superjet. I've yet to see or hear about anyone pulling a flatwater backflip in a stock hull without a huge engine upgrade or shortening the hull like 7 inches which takes a lot of fiberglass work... The BOB hull ( http://www.thebobhull.com/ ) seems to flip with a limited setup 701. There's also the superfreak hull out there people on this forum seem to like. These hulls cost big money (at least for me) in my opinion.

I'm running a 61x engine with an ADA head, blackjack carb, B-pipe, MSD Enhancer, hooker prop. in a modified Squarenose hull and working up the confidence to start barrel rolling but can do stabs without problems...

Also converting over to a good aluminum pole would help. They are stronger and wont break on you...

And welcome to the X. its addicting.

Yea I thought about getting an aluminum pole but decided I would just shoot for a new ski, Im not lookin to do a flatwater flip, I know that would cost to much to get a ski to do it, Im more interested in pulling one off a big wave, i would just be worried about breaking the ski. And yes I have looked at the bobs, a complete bob is to expensive and building one is out of the question because i just dont have the knowledge, all I could really do to a ski right now is a couple of bolt on mods, although I hope to learn more haha. Thanks for your input and yes the x is addicting, i find my self reading random stuff on it whenever I have spare time haha!

There is nothing cheap about a freestyle ski no matter how you slice it.
And it's only easy if you pay extra big bucks and buy a completely set up freestyle ski.

Learn to ride what you got for now.
Once you get more comfortable with caring for the ski and doing some simple maintenance, start thinking about porting, maybe a bigger motor, ignition and pump upgrades, and trim.
With all that and some skill, you will most definitely roll off wakes and perhaps even flip.

ok, im not talkin freestyle like you in your picture though haha, Im just talkin better than what I have, I think I have fully learned to ride what I have now and maxed the ski out as far as jumping and tricks go. I nearly got the full rotation of a backflip last summer but my feet kept coming off because I dont have footholds, I have also seen a couple vids of people doing backflips and barrel rolls on stock sj's and even a barrel roll on an old js 550 (not stock). Does anyone have any input on the yamaha fx1s? thanks!

Stick with the SJ, it's a better platform for what you're trying to do. A Squarenose 701 SJ should be cheaper than an FX1, too.
Get some footholds. While you're doing that, see if the foam is saturated with water. Redo that and you will lose some weight.

I'm trying to figure this wacky and extremely expensive sport out myself--- read alot get addicted to reading at least an hour a day on this site and pwctoday.com and write things down; shop around for parts too Blowsion= expensive
5000 you'll be in the water

Depending on your budget, we could build a VERY nice 701 Gen2 BOB for about $12k. Gen2 BOB Hull, RRP steering and handle pole, Factory Pipe, head, carbs, reeds, ignition, etc. Complete Turn key ski that'll be guaranteed to flat water flip. If you order one, we'll flip it during the test ride and send you the video! If 12k is out of your budget, we could downgrade some of the parts to cut the cost.

12k is definatly out of my budget, even though that seems like a very good price for such a nice ski, even if u down graded parts though it still probably would be too expensive for me, but what is the cheapest complete ski you could possibly do?

find a squarenose with a 701, footholds, pipe impeller and head..

x2, this is about what I started minus the footholds. I was able to pick it up for $1400, but I've seen them go for $1200 and even bone stock ones for like $800. If you can find one with footholds already done it will save you a ton of time if your not experienced with fiber glass work. I did my footholds and the harder part for me was actually trying to returf the tray for the first time.

yea but then I would also need to get a handle pole, pump, electrical, gas tank and it just seems like iy would be to hard to find all that, and where do you even get a jetmaniac engine?

between jetmaniac and sjetrider you could have everything. rhaas has some sweet motor mounts and mid shaft housings, dangerboy has alot of sweet coldfusion billet stuff. ocd solutions for your bilge wiring....

for the handle pole get a round nose pole and the 615 lowered pole bracket (sjetrider)

side note; this isnt gonna be the badass freestyle ski you want but your not gonna have one for 5k.... this would be a HUGE upgrade for you thou. between everyone on the x you can save alot of money, i know i did.
