Kind of a stupid question, but I was wondering what kind of switch you all use for your bilges.

I use the metal ones from the auto parts store, and screw on the rubber boot.

There has to be something nicer. Im not paying for a handle bar switch either.

yup, the mil spec one from mcmaster. lasts a long time. I got the 3way up and down is on, center is off.

Except his is the 2-way. It's a good switch and when I looked for it on Mc-Master-Carr, it was around the same price. Added it to another order and I saved money.

I'm using the JSS switch. Holding up great.
I think John charges around 21 bucks or so for it. I believe he shortens the toggle itself.

I'm using the removable fuse method! All I can say is don't spend the $70 (or whatever it is these days) on the "waterproof" handlebar mount rocker - it's a piece of junk.

McMaster-Carr P/N 8002K71 is what I think John uses. Oil-Spraytight Washdown Toggle Switch Spst, Off-On, 15 Amps $18.46 Each. At $21 to have it shortened and a cap put on it seems worth it. Like I said, neither have failed yet.

I had one of those go bad too, in less than ONE riding season, cost me a battery, since the bilge came on while the ski was under a cover in the garage ( I didnt hear it)

Now I use either a $2 toggle from lowes ( lasts for a few freshwater seasons) or just twist the wires together....

Anyone sell a lighted switch? (and still waterproof and low-profile)

I rigged up an LED on the dash of my SN to go with the handlebar switch. That way I know if its on or not.

Now I'm looking to do something similar with my RN I just got.

i got this from west marine...

i coated it in sillicone and use a rubber boot. has worked great for a year with out any problems. west marine is great if it ever fails bring it back and they will give you another with out thinking about it. but buy the boots from lowes they are much cheaper
