ok so i finally got my x2 back out and on the water...well sitting on the dock anyway:rant:

specs on the thing are 650 motor westcoast pipe, waterbox, i believe atp manifold with a 44mm mikuni..we did advance the timing slightly i believe justin went about half way with the stator. jet sport 15.5 prop. carb settings are 120 low 3/4 to 1 turn out 150 high 1 1/2 out with a 95 gram spring and 2.3 needle and seat...main feed fuel line is coming off the reserve..

problem # 1 carb will not hold a prime..runs great if i take off the flame arrestor and put my hand over the carb suck fuel into it then throw the flame arrestor back on and go..if i shut it off for more than 2 minutes. DEAD have to reprime it to get it going again.

problem #2 go for a rip and it seems to be running fine..then snap all of a sudden there is tons more power out of nowhere with the throttle in the same position as before..wtf? take the plugs out for a read and they are dry and burning to a light to medium brown in the center..no oil dripping off of them not white just a nice golden brown...

problem #3 the head pipe and chamber seem to be running super hot!! after 3 minutes of riding i can put my hand on the head for about 3 seconds before its too hot but i can see the water boiling out of the head pipe..head pipe and chamber are hot enough to sizzle water gone in an instant..water is getting through tho....cooling is set up...line from pump to bottom of manifold. out top of the head to front of pipe, out the back of the head pipe to the stinger with a t going to the pisser which has a restrictor justin put in it epoxied in.

someone told me i need to open up the orifice at the pump some with a drill bit so more water can flow through it...

the only thing i have been avle to find is i need to replace the coupler on my pipe as it has a pin hole in the bottom and is leaking water into my hull...further proof water is flowing through it..

would tapping a second line in the pump so i can run one line to the head and one to the pump help??

gonna be 86 degrees here on wed. and would like to go ride again not ride for 3 wrench and ponder for 20 ride for 3 wrench and ponder for 20 etc. etc.

1 &2 sound like the needle and seat are sticking

dual cooling may help but not exactly your problem i'd suspect., since you are not pushing the limits of that motor.

i believe i drilled and plugged the crank case drains and running premix. check the compression for me. i am running 110l and 145h with no more than 1 turn out on either, we know my motor is modded well past yours so you being lean is not the problem.

ltr bro,

You said the coupler has a pinhole in it,if its leaking water it is also leaking exhaust into the hull, fix dat chit!

im already on it i noticed it when i took my hood off and it was filled with smoke at first i thought my pipe was so hot it was smoking the paint off but then i seen it dripping water and said ah ha thats one issue....what could be causing it to not keep a prime at the carb...fuel pump need rebuilding??

what's this seat you speak of??? i have no seat....the back end has been lightened up so much with the cut down and pop bottles when it's floating by itself the whole steering nozzle is out of the water

Mine goes from top of head to back of pipe, from front of pipe to stinger. You have a cooling problem to start.

The exhaust and cooling leak could be the cause of the high temp on the head and pipe. Also you could be experiencing a lean condition due to a problem in the fuel pump on the carbs. I would definately check the internal fuel pump filters for a major clog. This could be causing your engine to run a little leaner which will raise your engine temp especially with the cooling/exhaust leak.
