I was a little scared when I realized they were the only game in town on 86mm flat top pistons, but John at RIVA hooked me up quick at a reasonable cost, all came in in 3 days UPS ground and was correct and complete, restoring my confidence that was once lost in them. Just ask for John when you call.

Dont buy anything from them via internet. Call and place the order and make sure they have it in stock. Long story short i had to call a couple of times to straighten out my order i placed a couple weeks ago but I was cool about the SNAFU and John (i think) was pretty helpfull.

On the way back from the florida keys I stopped to pick up some parts. The first person didn't know what I was talking about. 2nd person could not find it in their catalog then started talking to other employees about lunch in the middle of trying to help me. After a couple of minutes I said excuse me I guess your lunch is more important then a customer. I walked out.

Normally I think I would have been fired up but I was on vacation so it wasn't as big of a deal.

I love to eat so lunch is a big deal to me. If this happened in my business I would just tell the fellow employee to wait a couple of minutes until I finish with the customer. No big deal:)

John Meyers in phone sales is the man. I personally have worked with him (back at R&R jet tech) and he know his chit!

Tony is another great guy that works the front parts desk. He also a local racer and very knowledgable guy.

If anybody needs kickarse carbs, pick up the Riva powerbombs.....they are the shizzle!

Starting to wonder if I really got hooked up here. Probably not Riva's fault, but we will see how they handle this.
I took my motor apart the other night and found that the skirts on these R&D Big Bore pistons made to run in the R&D sleaves (wich I have) were hitting not only the cases, but the crank webbing as well I.E. skirts too long.
I am running stock cases and stock crank.
The last time I took this motor apart (different cases, different crank, still stock though) it was due to cracked pistons and ring pin bearings coming apart. At that time I noticed where the pistons were hitting cases, but I figured it was just part of the carnage? Here is a pic. of the other pistons & where they were hitting the cases. I now think this could have been the reason for the failure before.
Has anyone seen this happen before?

Does any one have a suggestion of how I should handle this or a comment of weather or not I should even go back on Riva? I ground my current pistons to clear and put them back in, but this had to do some damages that will I am sure be evedent in near future.

sounds like your flat top cylinder is a bit to short so to speak.......... more cut off than suppose to be...........who decked it?

The cylender would have no baring in this situation. The piston hits the crank and cases, regardless of the cylender being on or off. The piston is bolted to the crank, not the cylender. And again this is the 2nd set of stock cases and 2nd stock crank.

what you think about riva doing a warranty - discount on one of there older yamaha 61x cdi unit's ??? advent does it.

i got one (purple) and it works fine, but the stopping of the motor or ignition does not work ???
all the wires are pluged in correctly, but when pushing the red button on the handle pole switch, it still does not stop the motor.
i put a msd in, and it works fine. stops the motor every time.
think the guys at rive could do something for me ???
or just charge tell me to "gfms"
