Freestyle What Prop?

I have the following mods:

701 62t/61x - Dual 38mm
210 PSI compression
BPipe - Limited
Vforce3
MSD Enhancer
Lightened Flywheel
Stock 144mm pump

I am looking for a "freestyle" non-racing setup

Should I run a Solas Concorde 13/17 or 14/18??

615 Freeriders are addicted to T1 madness.
I would run an 08> OEM prop WAY before ANY concord.
You will be AMAZED how much better it will be.
Post an add looking for one. If you dont find one PM me I may know where to get one for like $110 shipped new take off. But you may get one cheaper on here.
The 08> OEM Yamaha props way outperform any concord by far and will easily handle your mods.

Thanks I will consider that.

I have a concorde 14-18 now and want to make sure I am not overpropped before I tune it for spring... (Or at least have a proper starting point).

14/18 will be too tall for sure. Sell It and get an 08> OEM prop, much improved hook up due to larger center hub.
you will be chasing your tail trying to make a 14/18 work. Have it repitched to 13/17 and it will work OK however no where near as good as a larger hub prop (like the OEM 08> sj prop)

The number should still generally refer to pitch angle correct?

Most manufacturers recommend a pitch angle between 13 and 17 for a stock setup:

Stock: 13/16
Skat: 13/17 or 14/18
Solas: 13/17
Nujet: 5.0 (assuming non-variable pitch 15)

If you assume a variable pitch angle is constant, you can take the average of the two numbers to find the average pitch. They all come out exactly around 15... Make sense??

Same goes for an SXR... stock prop is 13/18 and Nujet recommends a 15.

FWIW I hated hated my 14/18 no matter how I ran it...(diff cones, exit nozzles diameters, 701, 760)

I can't say enough about the 13/16-3mm on your set up. I tried a Hooker 10/17 and returned it.

SXipro typed this above though and I would like to try it but I'm afraid to mess with my set up again! It hooks and snaps!

"Hooker 9/15. Big improvement even over a Solas Concord 13/17 cutback."

Again. One pitch by one mfg has nothing to do with one of another. Skat also has pitches of 8/16, 9/17,10/18. For the SuperJet. Solas has 14.5/18, 14.5/18.7, 15/19, 14/17, 15/18, 16/19. These are all non swirl props. The also work well with the right setups as well

I just rode my 95 superjet for the first time it really lags on pulling me outta the water from a stop seems like a car with a slipping clutch rpms climb fast but slow to go really fast when up and going and top end though its got a bpipe and jd grate n plate and a solas 14.4/18.7 prop would this prop cause poor low end? from what ive found on here the hooker 9/15 is the best for low end does this sound right?

I highly doubt anyone would choose a 9/15 hooker over a 13/16 cut back 3 mill swirl or concord in a double blind id bet most would pick the 13/16 for a motor under 850 with some power. The hooker is steeper and trying to move alot more water at once and is doing it under far more pressure being cut back 7 mill... the pitch #s themselves mean very little

That lil prop with stock cone and 85mm exit nozzle combo still blows my mind in waves after years of riding it!

its funny how people lock on to what one key person says, then its repeated so much it becomes certainty..For what we do in surf and rec riding I still think a large hub prop means didly in a stock pump

Go find the review I did. Of you have a good Freeride swirl or Silas Concorde that works. The benefit is minimal. If you have old school or stock prop the. The hooker is a great prop. All goes back to overall package.
