What might cause this problem?

I had problems with my ski last time i rode and finally got time to go to the lake and put in fresh plugs buy i couldnt get the ski to crank. If fired a few times but now it only clicks when i had start. I thought it may be the battery so i swapped it with another and nothing. Even tested both in my 550 and it worked fine.
The started seemed like it was turning over really slow compared to normal.
Could this be my starter going out or maybe some bad electronics? Last time i rode the ski it felt like it was running on 30% power and knocked a little bit but the compression was fine.
i got a couple seconds of video i can add but i dont think it will help.

Sounds like a bad connection/loose wire to me. Others know more, but I'd start with the main pos & neg. Not easy to get to, but better than rippin' the e-box open right away. (pos to the starter & neg to the motor)

When I had those starting symptoms, it was a bad negative lead.
But it didn't cause any power loss.

True... The pos might only affect the starting issue. But the neg affects everything. If this is a rn sj, they are pretty close together and not fun to get to. But imo still a good place to start. When cleaning the motor it is even hard to get fresh water on those connections. I rinse religiously and mine were wasted recently.

we found a bad crank here last week that had those exact same symptoms....

very low on power, hard to start, stater woudl barely spin it over then not at all...





did you get any water in it?

I did have a problem with the leads before so thats probably it. What do i need to do to replace the leads? Just reterminate the connections or run new wires?

I had to run a new neg lead. It was corroded inside. (broke with a few bends)

Where should i get the wiring? My dad could probably bring home some scrap wire from delta but the biggest he may be able to get is 10 gauge. The stock wires look around 6 gauge. Im guessing just measure the wire, crimp on terminals and solder over the crimps just to reinforce it??

Got mine from the nearest marine store and got an auto electrician friend to do the connections.

The wiring's the cheapest first test U can do.

My bet is on a bad starter. If you're going to get 1 off ebay, get the high torque 1.

I think I'd recommend high torque anyways.
