what makes a well rounded SJ surf rider, big air or surf style

well thats good to hear about the highroller front hold, then theres hope then,I cant get my foot under it at a angle much, and be comfortable,i tend to ride with my right foot all the way against the side tray and front dash, but it limits your hip movment big time,id like to get under it at a good angle and get use to it.

yeah.... riding hero waves is so tough...:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

I wonder is Mikey has heard of Mr. Kelly Slater.... that should have his balls puckering up about right now... just drop it mike, cause your points are null and void. not to mention lame attmepts at nocking us. Come out and RIDE this time and we'll see how you can handle slop and chop... it's a lot harder to look good....

i was just gonna comment on the surfing pics.. very nice pete. you are a well rounded athlete. much respect to you. :headbang:

Thank you very much ! I surfed for a long time, and it felt great to get back on a Stick ! Not brap, but shred for sure ! :Banane01:

What would be the odds we would some surf that looks anything like that for the rager? So is there some kinda EAST,WEST rivalry going here, seems like the west coasters have more surf style, and use that stance exclusive,We are always behind with everything on the east coast.some times years.East coasters got ya wiped in the slop chop, unfortunatly we get more practice in that, nothing to brag about though thatz fer sure.I cant stand the chop myself, most times I just skip the SJ and break out the b1 for it.

I would of put some time in on the board also if the waves were that clean and lining up.nice line ya had going there pete

what angle do you keep your front strap at scott,Im thinking on possibly switching to strap for a bit myself

.....

hey torr....and to answer your question in the title.......

wouldnt a reasonable description of a well rounded surf rider be able to shred waves and pull aerial tricks? little bit of both?

ride more, analyze less

Thats pretty close to the ride angle i get out of my FFH I was wanting to try more of a snowboard stance angle.but it just feels so uncomfortable trying to get under the FFH that way.

I cant help It im just analytical, lol.you did get kinda the point of my question,Im sure to some people surf style is more or less than a 50% role in their ride? thatz what I was gettin at

in my opinion being good at surf riding and making it look easy is harder than doing aireal tricks. carving, re entries, and tricks like that take more skill, and aireal tricks take more balls than skill. you definatly still have to know what youre doing to do air tricks, but surf riding takes more balance and reading of the wave.

i think that how good a pro rider is at surf riding is what sets him apart from his peers.

I've never seen a surfer do this either(see attached). Everyone has their own style, but not riding only in footstraps doesn't make you any less of a surf rider in my opinion. Freeride.

i like it.

i just NEED that positive pressure against my front foot...if not i can feel it going all over the place once I leave the wave....

not a tight fit though, I can kick in and my foot still slides right out...

saki, wait til you ride my boat this time.......the x cased LPW motor is freaking RIPPING now...had to get that 48 dialed in, then added the concord....

true... I don't like straps, but I do like surf stance for some things... Backflips look sooo much better w/ holds, so do rolls... christ when I met JK in 03 he had footholds and was trying to get use to them, cause he liked the look of footholded no hander rolls...

like the brothas say "it's all good"

Ive always thought backys in total side surf stance looked cooler,JK has them kinda torqed out to the side and major speed controlled that way.

I really don't like the way foothold BR's look. There's just no style when your leaning over the bars.
I don't have a powerfull motor, so with my tricks I use a lot of speed when approaching the wave. I find it difficult to ride fast when locked into the footholds because it is such an akward riding position. Also I have so much more control with my surf stance BR because you don't have to lean way over to get your weight up front since one foot is already in the front of the tray.
