What is up with the this dome X's out cc's

I just got my Riva girdled head in. One dome is still in the sealed package from riva, the other has been taken out. Both of the domes have the original "cc" stamp scratched out with an engraver. I can't really make out what cc was originally stamped before it was X'd out. There is also "35cc" hand engraved in the dome as well. The original Riva box lable states 35cc. Is this a common occurance with riva? I have no compression gauge to test PSI so I want to be sure I have the correct 35cc domes for pump gas.

First off you need a compression gauge if you are going to change the head!

I know, I just bought a bad ass Fluke meter, and I am saving up for a nice used snap-on guage. It will be a month or so before I get this thing bolted up. Maybe I will have one by then. Riva's tech line is busy, i will try again in a few.

get a craftsman... unless you want to do this for a living... or if you're loaded... if you buy a used snap-on it could very well be less accurate than your new craftsman... at least you know it comes calibrated when its new...

I have a debilitating disorder, I like high quality in a bad way. It gets expensive, but I will have it forever. Plus there are no Sears stores in my area. I have to drive 40 mins away, I would rather buy a used snap-on via mail. I need a nice torque wrench as all I have now is a old style Craftsman bar type (with the little pointer)

do not buy a craftman torque wrench...... been through 2 of them, both broke and guess what..

been running one that I got at Advanced Auto for years and it works great. I won a Watcon torque wrench last year at Alatoona, it is really nice.

I have a craftsman digital torque wrench and love it... not broken yet... knock on wood

I have the advanced auto one as well and its cool too!

I just like the digital wrench... cool numbers and sounds and flashy lights!

I have the compression gage from Advanced... prob not the best, but it works... If I had to buy one now I would get the craftsman... like 60 bucks or something... at the time I was in college so 20 or 30 bucks looked a lot better... it still works great though!

BTW- sorry to jack your thread... hopefully you find your answer about the domes...

They're both look like 81mm 35cc domes you'll be safe to run them but I would double check your compression to be safe.

Yeah, I also bought a craftsman torque wrench (click) type about 8 years ago only after a year or so the plastic handle became loose and the calibration was way wacked out. I would like to get it calibrated but I am not sending out a craftsman torque wrence, I will just buy a nice one. I heard that someone else makes snap-on's torque wrenches and they are obviously much cheaper through them.

I just purchased a craftsman compression gauge. That thing is just as nice as a snap on for a fraction of the price. The whole kit with all the connections and case was only $60.

Put a spark plug in them and see how much water they hold. 1millilitre of water is one cc at sea level. the best way is to use a titration rod.

I've been using a very nice clicker torque wrench from Schuck's for over two years now.

The last set of domes i got from Riva were the same way. i think because they are not making them anymore they just resized what they had to fill orders.
