Super Jet What impeller should I be looking for.

Hey guys, just picked up a sn sj and it still has the stock impeller in it. It has a pro tec high comp head 175psi each hole, factory b pipe and r&r racing stage 3 port and polish. Top speed is 50 mph. I would like to keep the same stock speed and increase my bottom end if that is possible. Some people said to go with a hooker 11/17. I have read that the hookers are nice but I have also read that they make the midrange sluggish. Should I still have my sights set on a hooker or should I go with a skat swirl? Any feedback is appreciated.

I doubt the 11/17 would make it sluggish down low if it's a 61x 701. Dosnt sound like the the best choice for freestyle but should be good all around. Just from my limited experience.

Incase you are interested, I have a 10/17 scat straitedge (on the cheap) that I really liked for "freeride". My mods are pretty similar to yours and my bottom and midrange response was great. The ski is too fast for me to hold wide open, but it is also shortened.

I am used to riding a 550 so the power difference is insane, I'm not going to be doing backflips with it, may try to pull off a br but I doubt I can get it plate to plate. I just want to try nose stabs and wake jumping, I don't go to extreme. From what I understand alot of the freestyle guys go with a 9/15 or 10/16 hooker. Is that just for more bottom end snap? For some reason I think that the 11/17 will be alot of load on the engine. Like I said I want to keep my top end the same and increases my bottom end. Don't think it should be that hard when compared to a stock impeller.

Does anybody on here have experience with the 11/17?

An 11/17 hooker is highly over propping that motor. A 9/15 would be far more appropriate.

I can't say as I have not compared the two. I do know that a Swirl like that served me well in several setups.

Alright thank you. I will have to mull it over. If anybody can comment on experiences they have had with hookers (not the kind you rent) I would appreciate it. Would a 13/18 skat give me the same low end as a 13/17 and better top end, or would I sacrifice some low end?

Low end would probably be the same. Top would be more with a higher trailing number.

*Assuming your engine can pull the higher pitched prop

9/15 hooker works great in my setup its not too different from what u got you will lose some top end but not too bad and def worth it for the bottom end gain

If all you want to do is hold it wide open all the time use your stock impeller. They are as fast as any aftermarket. Something like a Hooker 9-15 (load is critical) will run within 1-2mph and have much better acceleration.

I don't run it wide open alot. I jump around mostly and then I will take some high speed runs up my pond. Is the 9/15 going to be bouncing off the rev limit alot? would a 10/16 be a good compromise between the 9/15 and 11/17 or should I not even consider the 11/17?

I doubt your engine will hit 7000rpm with a 9-15 hooker, but is should be close. A riva ported cylinder needs to rev more than the contemporary low port setups. Raise the rev limit to 7500 and enjoy all the new found performance.

It has stage 3 porting a b pipe and a head. Don't know if it has an enhancer so I don't think I would be able to arise the rpm limit. Don't have a tach either.
