I need to fix a crack in my ride tray - wondering how I can tell if the foam is waterlogged or not and in need of that evil word:smileeek: :smileeek: DEFOAMING-
What does water logged foam look like?

One way to tell is to find the center of gravity of the hull. Rest the ski on a piece of pipe at 90 degrees to the center line and push it backwards and forwards until it balances. Measure the location of the pole from the nose. Now, the all important part: where's the center of gravity for a dry boat? Good question!! And I don't know :banghead: Does anyone else? Kind of depends on the setup of your ski too, especially if you replaced pipes, hoods etc - the stock stuff is HEAVY.

Pull the exhaust pipe out and watch it drip. If its a stock hull it is wet!

Oh Yea, its waterlogged! I lifted the crack and took a look with a light and the tray is full of water. I guess I will ride this weekend and then put it under the knife next week! I ordered some footholds from Chris @ 24/7 last week and his custom cut Hydro turf and he did not get it out to me yet, so he said he will hook me up with all the foam, epoxy resin etc. to do the refoaming and
footholds. He is very helpful, and I like the fact that he actually makes the parts himself, truly custom work here! Thanks for all the help!

Yeah, Chris makes good stuff. I've been running his footholds in my round nose for a few years... I love them. Just put a set in my square too.
If you haven't already done so, when you refoam you might as well install a one way check valve... (maybe two - that's what I ran in my square nose).

And while you are at it install some drain plugs in the back of the hull.
