My sister wants to start riding standups after riding a gtx 4tec for a year or so. Unfortunantly she has to wear glasses at all times. She wont use contacts, and i was wondering if the sports glasses with the large frames and thick elastic strap that are used for things like soccer and basket ball would worK? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Jay

I would recommend using something that has some uv protection. You can get sport style goggles like rec specs or sea specs. A lot of guys on PWCT recommend sea specs.

she is a great candidate for lasik, but she wont let them do it because she has super sensitive eyes, and is to much of a pansy. She is 21. How do you ride with contacts? I have been hit in the eyes with water so hard, I thought I was going to be blind.. How do you keep them from getting shot way behind your eyes? Thanks for all the help.

In about four years of riding watercraft with contacts, I have lost one only once - and that was from smacking the water at approx. 50mph with my face.

I have also ridden/skied with contacts for many year and I have had little problems. Over the last 14 years I have lost 2 contacts. The only thing that really bothered me was dry eyes after long WOT runs. I had PRK this winter and its the way to go. I could not image going back to contacts, no more dry eyes.:woot:

I haven't lost a contact yet. I used to carry my contact eye drops with me in my swim trunks. But after a while your eyes get used to it. I have been using 'systaine' eye drops. They are expensive, but barely EVER have to put them in since they lubricate so well. Also I use Clear Care solution at night. I have noticed a HUGE increase in lubrication and comfort during the day. Hope this helps

Yes, I would say the Sports type perscription glasses would be her only option, although they will be blasted off from water spray from time to time. So attach some sort of floatation on the strap so they won't sink to the bottom of the lake. Call your doc, maybe they have some new, cool technology in this area. I wear contacts and use 'Spex' (they float). I would recommend any contact wearers to look into Spex goggles.
