SXR wet pipe questions

for all you guys running the factory wet pipe i have some questions. i have been watching the threads, and have just purchased a wet pipe. my question is i see some of you mention a flow control valve and or water injection what is their purpose or function? are these two items the same? as a recreational rider looking for more of a freestyle set up would i benefit from either? i have an 07 sxr with a :):):):) ton of hours on it. i have a lighten stock flywheel and will be putting on a timing advance plate along with the pipe. do i "need" any of these items?? oh yeah anyone know a good carb guys? thanks in advance !

Water injection is for dry pipes. Flow control is the one you need. On low rpms it's not letting water to go in waterbox, so when you revup motor don't have to push water from waterbox out- it's easyer for ski to accelerate. Carb guy ? Do you mean tuner, mechanic ? There are three small adjusting screws (hex head) with locking nuts on your head pipe. They are used to inject water into the exhaust flow at different areas, thus changing the exhaust wave. You can fine tune these for the type of power you want to obtain from your pipe setup.

The flow control (Jet Werks) really helps if you are looking for low-end power, as most of us with Kawis are. The flow control will dry out your waterbox at low rpm, so when you hit it, it's not all loaded up and bogging. It's well worth the $50

Try those settings on your head pipe and see what kind of difference they make for you. It just takes time and testing to get it where you want it.

Check out this post, I'm new to the SXR, but have been tuning the SXI's (with same head pipe) for years. I'm going give this guy's settings a try:

If you use Factory pipe settings, you won't need a carb guy. Just follow the Factory Wetpipe directions.....As far as the screws on the pipe...

Bottom: 1/2 turn out
Middle: Closed
Top: Start at 3/4 turn out and try it and then slowly turn it in (1/16th) after each ride to see where you like it.

If water thrown on the pipe starts to sizzle, you can't turn it in anymore.
