you can use an sxr head gasket it will just clear the o-rings

Well i measured it up yesterday, i bought an sxr gasket and had the head in front of me, i have heard it from about 5 different people that they fit... fact is they dont!!

So to clarify it for everyone who says it.... the sxr head gaskets are not suitable for this head they DONT FIT the 750 domes... Id sudgest the 650 O-ring domes are no different for this head, but as i havent tryed it i wont comment to much.. but i dount they will fit either...

Lucky enough there are still places with the head gaskets available..

i run it and have had no problems at all with leaks. many others do as well. if it works then run w/ it.

Well what you are infact doing is seating the O-ring over the top of the headgasket then compressing the oring more than it should be, to seal the jacket, would be no differnt possibly better to run a 750 headgasket rather than an sxr??. Im not doubting it might work but its not the ideal solution..

when i have removed the head there has been no factory gasket material around the domes and none on the orings. that stuff usually bonds to the top of the cylinders. oh well go figure , that it was wrong.

Yeah well the 0-ring will certainly be seeting on the top edge of the gasket, not on the block surface as they were designed to, but if it work then it works..

you can still get the westcoast gaskets, I would pick a few up while you can... I just bought 5 of them, should arive down under nxt week...

I always had a problem with the Westcoast gasket being too thick to get enough pressure against the domes. I found a Wiseco gasket that is slightly thinner. The holes need to be cut to clear the domes and water passages need to be matched. This cured all sealing problems.
