i bought my first jet ski this winter. it is a js550 i decided to tackle the project of putting a exhaust pipe on it. i bought a west coast pipe used for 100 dollars. i took the old on off and in between the pipe and the waterbox is this black rubber "boot" that has like a metal pipe with holes drilled in it. when i went to put the west coast on it was too long for the boot to fit . I tried to shorten the boot but could not get it short enough. i had another piece of hose from the front exhaust so i just put it on. i would like to know what the boot is and if i can just keep the hose on there. any help apprieciated
