anyone with a deisel truck, get fuel right off the highway because once you get off, its very hard to find a station that sells deisel up there. kinda stupid considering the amount of trucks that go to the dunes.

well I just called for a site and there is one left near the stair except it is electric, its only 5 more a night but she said the rest are all on the scenic drive site. I think its far aware right. Should I get the electric one even tho we'll be tenting? When she says electric does that mean it just had regular sockets or is it something different for RV's.

just get that site, it just means you have a regular outlet on your site. I'll be over to charge batteries:sneaky:

when I called the first time she said that was the only close spot and the rest were on scenic lake drive or something like that, sounded like it was pretty far away.

I asked a few people at the campground but nobody knew where to go.

I probably went the wrong way, I crossed back over the freeway and ended up in a little town in the middle of nowhere, I can't remember its name. Not even any fast food ... well besides the hostess products in the gas station.

first off, its NEW ERA, not NO WHERE.

new era has the one gas station you saw. its the closest at about 10-12min.

hmmi should probley call to see if there are any other spots. how far is silver lake from this camp site? Amanda's grandparents have a cabin real close to the lake/dunes
go north on the road the campground is on and you will wind up in silver lake (15-20min). that road will dead end at cherry point store and from there its a right 1/4 mile, then left into town (i'm sure you're familiar).

when someone whos familiar with the area has some time, ya wanna give some directions that may be easier or better than mapquest, if you were coming from the bridge. We'd appreciate it.

Also, how is the layout of this place, do you trailer everday to a launch from the campsite? Is it the lake and beach right in front or farther away?

coming from the bridge id break off onto 31 south i think its something like mile marker 336? or something like that just stay on 31 S. though traverse city and manistee till you come to us 10. youll be in scottville you have to go right on us10 (west) to get to 31 itll be abought 5 miles down just past meijers get back on 31 S. youll be at mile marker 169 from here just come south to the NEW ERA exit (stoney lake road) between mile marker 141 and 140 get off make a right (west) go to the end of stony lake rd. once there make a left. the campground is on your right about a mile or so down....

next question....the layout is the campground is up on a bank and theres stairs that go down to the beach the launch is down the road about a mile as well...so what we do is come to the campground get set up...say hi...then let someone know your going to put in and someone will be more than willing to either just go with you and drive your truck back or just give you directions and a ride back to get your truck...claybanks is in a quite remote spot so we all line our skis on the beach at night...that way they're all ready in the morning...no worries:biggthumpup:

Hey Cybermob,
I think I ended up in Rothbury for gas, it sounds familiar if thats the town back across 31. They didn't have fast food either, I like to buy my breakfast in the morning instead of cooking. New Era would have been closer but I didn't know there was a gas station in town.

DaUpJetSkier,
Definitely leave the skis on the beach at night, they wont be going anywhere. After riding at this place last year it now is my favorite place in Michigan to ride.

Nathan, are you going up (or over rather) for this ride? As of now I am planning on it, it'd be great to see you guys again! I pray my ski is running right by then. One thing after another!

Al,
Yup I'll be there for this one definitely, although I need to reserve a spot at the campground. I didn't make Lanier, Pit Pass and I will be out of town for Cleveland. I cant miss this one!!
