Other w00t! First time on a stand up!

post pic of that civic towing the skis!! lol i have an accord im debating putting a hitch on it for when i haul just my ski to the lake. but i think my cars too low to put a hitch receiver on it. stick with it man.
I currently tow a single ski with a 1.6l Hyundai Elantra. Your Accord will be fine.

I also used to have a Scooby 2.5RS, that thing was a beast for pulling skis. Spun tires less on the ramp than my 2wd GMC 1500.

Edit: Just read that and realized that my ski has half the engine displacement of my car, and probably close to the same hp. LOL

I have an 05 accord sedan 2.4L been pulling my ski for over 2 years not an issue! Even pulled a double trailer with 2 skis to daytona. Have pics if interested.

Road the 550 for the first time today and other than being gutless compared to the SJ it was ALOT of fun! Also got closer to doing subs on it. Weird thing though, after about a half tank of gas through the 550 it just died and we couldn't get it started again. It would kick over for a second or two but it was like it wasn't getting any fuel. So maybe the fuel pump? Probably go through the carb too. :(

SJ ran great and lots of people road it. Another :):):):)ty thing happened with it though, after about 3/4 tank of gas I was riding it fall over and it died and wouldn't start so I swam it about 200yards back to shore... After that I could not figure out what happened? The hull had a about 3" of water in it so maybe the carb got wet? I checked the spark plugs and they where dry, ran it with them out for a few seconds than put them back in and let it sit for about 20 minutes and it fired right up... Any ideas on that too? :ugh:

Edit forgot to mention that the SJ would turn over if I primed it but would die right away.

Have you emptied your fuel tanks, emptied the water traps, and blown out the fuel lines. If there is water in the tank or water trap, you can get random no starts. Check by siphoning from the bottom of the tank... I once took about 20 ounces of water out of my tank that way.

Another thing to check is the pick ups in the tank. If the plastic has a split in it part way down it won't draw fuel past that point so you will essentially run out of fuel with half a tank.

Your 550 also has a K&N filter on it. They are notorious for ingesting water, or just getting wet and making the ski run too rich.

Does you SJ have a coupler cover on it? If not if you have 3 inches of water in the hull the coupler will spray water like a fountain (into your carb).

Just a few ideas...

You're dedicated launching in a civic.

It wasn't bad, and I am going to have my dad extend the tongue on the trailer another 18-24" so I don't have to back up into the water so far.

Thank you for the reply I am going to check these things out today. What do you recommend for the 550 instead of the K&N?

Best for freestyle is the factory flame arrestor (but I don't use one because it's butt ugly). I find the ProK is the next best. I also run a Tau Ceti on one ski.

Good news and bad news. I dumped out the fuel separator, checked the filter, checked the lines, than screwed with the throttle cable at the carb because it wasn't opening all the way with the throttle pinned. Well it fired right up and idled for about 10 seconds until i stopped it. So the bad news is I have no idea why it died and wouldn't start to begin with. :(

Also saw that the rev limiter hose has been cut and blocked off. Should there be anything on the carb side that should be blocked off too so it doesn't suck in air or water?
