You'll get different opinions on this one, but I like 25 mil in the tray and 25 mil on the top of the hold too. Your feet will thank you and when you kick in you're in. Lucas (Lucaumpits) has a sweet setup too, but I can't remember what it is. A few guys are running his setup and are super happy with it.

there is 5mm, 8mm and 25mm in the softer light grey. the 5 is really thin and im not sure what I have ever used it for.
there is also a 9mm and 26mm called plush, its much denser and doesnt get imprinted like the grey. its also a good deal heavier. if you have a long no wake zone or ride on your knees you can compress the light grey down to the trey even with the 25mm.

like NVJAY said, one is not better or worse, its what you like. most probably run 8/9 or 25/26.

Adding to what tom21 just said about the grey... If you ride with your feet in the same place all the time (especially in the holds), the grey pad will squash down and won't be as resilient as it was when it was new. The plush padding is a pain to work with though.

I've heard of some people doubling up on the 8 as well. I am redoing my holds and have sheet of 8 and 25, will mostlikely do 25 in the tray and tops of holds and double up on 8 where my feet go in the holds for that molded look.

9mm plush with 615's, i wear an 11 wrestling shoe and was very comfortable, but the combo was a tad loose, added another layer of turf on the underside of the footholds and worked out perfect. i would think shoe/foot size plays another deciding factor, so you may be limited?

I like the stuff that doesn't stay flat after the first big jump, the grey is gay for anything on the bottom of the tray today ok .

padding is a tricky concept...build like, 5 skis.......then you'll have it figured out lol.....

25mm is awesomely cushy...but definatly raises your center of gravity a bit.....you can feel it if you know the differenve between 8 and 25 on the same ski....

just depends on what you are trying to do with your ski......

Ya i was wondering about the center of gravity, it had factory mats on it with no underpadding and i had no problem with it but now since i have footholds i think it would be nice to have some padding and i was thinking that it might absorb some shock and take some pressure of of the tray so it wont crack again i also wear a size 12 so i thought 25mm woud be too much

Sometimes not even then. lol I've yet to find a perfect combo. Shoe sole thickness, shoe traction, turf style, padding style, and of course footholds all make a difference.

this is why I made oversize holds so that you can run 25 jon the bottom and double up on the top and still will prob need a bit more to make it snug. really you could 25 the top and bottom and have the same fit as reg hold with just turf.

YES on the plush is a real pain to work with. I used a d/a with 80 to shape the grey. and now have to use a mini grinder with a 36 to shape the plush. but the plush is a one time. it will out last me.
