UMI handlepole and Steering Cable question

Picked this ski up used and it was ghetto'd together in a few places, the steering cable setup being one of them. The pics are pretty self explanatory. When I mount where it should be mounted (slot in cable housing) I only have enough range of motion to turn one way. You can see where the plastic on the cable is all chewed up, that's how it was when I got it, previous owner just crunched the plastic in the stainless holder and called it good.

In One of the pics (should be the last one) you can see the distance that I need to make up to do this correctly.

Did UMI offer an extension of sort to put on the end of the cable, or was there a different method of mounting it ?

That cable is the less desirable short throw cable. You will need to purchase the correct long throw cable for that pole. Or just make a bracket to mount that cable correctly.

Judging by the photos I would throw it in the garbage.

i have had calls from locals that couldnt figure out what was wrong with there cable and they had it in backwards. is it working correct on the pump side? its pretty easy to make a cable extension and i do it when i need to.

yup, not sure how one would reverse it, the waterproof threaded connector wouldn't go in the ski if in backwards.

Thought about finding a threaded rod that size and a coupler nut... any idea where to source those in stainless? Cable is actually in good shape despite that bit of plastic that is chewed up.

You are 'barking up the wrong tree' trying to make that cable work unless it is completely affordability driven temporary solution. Your steering throw will still be bad and lots of throw is key for freestyle.
