Type 4 FPP top lord mounts?? HELP!!!!!

I installed my FPP Type 4 dry pipe last week. Here is my problem: The front lord mount that attaches to the fly wheel cover is perfect. However, I did not have the top 2 lord mounts that mount to the head. I am using an ADA Girdled head and have the ADA bracket that goes with that head. I ordered the top two lord mounts from FPP but with that bracket they are 1 1/8" too short.

Do I need to find longer lord mounts or am I using the incorrect bracket?

Here is a pic of the motor... you can see how short the mounts are...

I rode it last weekend (in heavy chop) like it is, and it's fine... but I'd like to have it installed correctly.

Thanks...

Spacers

I ran the same set-up last yr. and had little aluminum spacers that sat between the pipe and the bracket. Just cut aprox 1-1/8" thick pieces out of an aluminum bar (Aprox 3/4" - 7/8" dia.) and drill a hole through the middle for the bolts. This is all from memory. I can actually measure it up for you when I get home tonight.

Edit: I didn't see the last picture so I guess you do have the spacers already. In that case I'm not sure what's going on.

I'll have to double check my setup when I get home... something is not adding up right. I thought about the spacer idea too... I might just go with that idea and cut them from round stock. Thanks man...

The spacers in the pic are only about 5/16"-3/8" thick so they are definetly not intended to make up the difference.

whenever i had to reinstall my mounts i always did the top two first then the flywheel mount (i think)

have you tried loosening the ring around the pipe couplet and then the stinger ring and tried to rotate it a little.

i know mines "flexed" a little to make it line up straight.

heres a picture of mine, i dont know if it shows it very well but theres a slight pull on the top mounts towards the pipe.

now that i think about, there shouldn't be any reason why you couldn't loosen the ring clamps to rotate the chamber to try and make it partial to flex on both the top and flywheel mounts.

somethings going to flex, regardless.

good luck.

If you loosen it and rotate the pipe it may help to slot the two holes on the pipe mount. I know mine are and perhaps that is what was helping it to mate up to the bracket properly.

I'll have to try that to see if it mates up better... however, i just blew the rear crank seal last night... so she's all coming back out...errrrrrr :17:

Good thing i just finished rebuilding the nose of my RN SJ after hitting bottom on a pretty big nose stab... 6 foot waves in 10 foot of water (probably more like 4 foot between waves) didn't work out too good for me. At least I have something to ride this weekend though.

thanks for the advise guys...
