I have a chance to buy a type 4 dry pipe correct me if I'm wrong on the name. The pipe is brand new in the box with everything in it. The application would be on a stock 701 61x 62T. My question is what the risk of a dry pipe over wet pipe. The difference in performance and what's actually needed for the motor to install this..

Thank you for the help.

I would run from that pipe...save your money for a B IMO........I HATED that pipe....it hits later than I like and its ugly and it clogs.

I run a type 4 on a jetmaniac 718 and have also tryede a b pipe the only diffrence in performance is that the type 4 hits later (but just as hard) it takes some aligning when installing.

They are a pain to get lined up correctly but make nice power. The lord mounts that screw into the head are almost impossible to find.

Man, if you are getting a good price on it, I would get it. I've got a type 4 on my 06 SJ, and its a monster on the bottom. If set up correctly, you will be in love.

B pipes suck... As long as you take time to install correctly the type 4 works great and makes more power.... The hit is later due the pump over prop issue... With a Dry pipe it makes power more in the Mid to Top, & B pipe makes Bottom to maybe Mid if you call it that... So if you prop it a little smaller off the bottom with a dry pipe you dont have any late hit issue... When I went from a B pipe XS1000 to Power Factor "only changed the pipe" I dropped one size on the prop, and the ski made more power everywhere on the dry pipe..

Dry pipes make more power every where if you set them up correctly!

Thats why the Power Factor Pipe is the hot ticket!

I also have a Jetmaniac 760 61x/61x thats running a Type 4 in a 2010 SJ...

Yea right now I have a solas 14.5/18 and the motor is stock accept for flame arresters. The only other thing the motor will have is a Ada girdled head with 35 or 37cc domes

That prop wont work for that pipe.... I would say custom hooker 9/16

Im running a 10/16 hooker on a ported 760 61x/61X Novi 48, type 4, 200 ish compression

I appreciate all the info. If that's the case I might aswell nut up and get a mag pump before the head and pipe.

In your opinion what should be done first. I don't want to dump thousands and not be able to ride it. I want to add parts but still be able to ride. I'm already 4k into it

13/17-3mm prop repitched to 13/16 from Impros.....#1

I love slippery ass light as hell stock pumps.

Higher compression.

B pipe.

Get rid of your rev limiter (stock CDI).

And go back to stock F/A's!!!!!

IMO.

The pipe also works very well with the MSD water injection to help with bottom end. These pipes wake up with a bigger motor and less restricted waterbox. I like mine.

i love my type 4. i think it hits hard as hell with my light flywheel and 9/15 and 35cc domes.. havent had any issues with it clogging either. Also, if you unbolt the motor and slide it forward the pipe goes on extremely easy with a little windex sprayed in the right spots.

If you trim the lip almost up to the hoodseal in the exhaust/bulkhead corner you can remover without all that. Only like a 1/4" is needed to be taken away for about 4-6" each way then it's night & day diff when trying to install.
