Yes, I have ran aftermarket bars and grips on my stock pole. I run the lizardskin grips ($15 or so from a local bike shop) and UMI 0 degree bars. The bars will mount right up to your stock turnplate.

0 deg bars should cost you $50.00 you can mod your nozzle for free as well

Put on the aftermarket bars, grips, shortended turnplate, and bore the nozzel. Ride the pig hard until your pole breaks. During this time set aside some money for a x-metal pole:Banane09:

x-metal has a pole thats what he is talking about
Boreing the nozzel gives you more bottom end power but you loose some top end power, should cost about $50.00

As for the quick stear im not sure if you can do it on a SXR

I cut my old grips off my '09 SXR and there is a small flange at the end of each handle. I bought Lizardskin grips at Sun&Ski but was not easy getting them over the flange on the end. You guys forgot to mention the flange.. In the future, should I grind off the flanges? tks.

yea i figured that there was something holding those either glue or a flange but im just going to wait until i can find a good deal on a whole set up on a pole.

pick up some 0 degree UMI Bars. You would be surprised at the difference in handling and leverage you get. I have been running this setup on my SXR since the day I bought the ski in 2004. Then add the grips of your choice.

Blowsion, Riva, Greateryamaha, Wamiltons. The latter 3 are all in florida.
Or post a wanted thread, may pick up a set cheap from someone who is not using theirs anymore.
