DO sand it up with really rough sand paper (like 36 grit)
DO let the turf glue dry all the way on both the turf and boat.
DO NOT wrap the turf under
DO cut it flush with the rail at a 45deg angle
DO take your time

I like to cut the turf on a 45 deg on the edge that touches the ski side also it allows you to push the turf up to the side for a real nice fit. The top of the turf touches the side and the bottom doesn’t.

Although I would recommend using the stock bumpers and only turfing the top of the rail next to the hood or just where you need it and not the entire rail.

The pressure and force of the water will get under it and rip it off. Cut it flush with the bottom of the rail.
I did not take pics while doing it, but here's a pic of one of mine after finished. (sorry the pic is so huge)

You forgot a very important step that if not done renders the above worthless.
DO fill in the OEM screw holes and any other holes in rails or water will force the turf off thru those holes. (learned this the hard way):banghead:
All the above as well.

Turf is held by glue. More prone to failure than rivets (OEM bumpers/rails)

I would also fill the holes in the rail before turfing, get some filler.

I would also suggest doing this partially sober. While I enjoy nothing more than getting jarred and working on skis/sleds, some things require attention to detail. Usually when I've had too much substance, the job always turns out not as planned. You know it right after you finished it too.

"DONE!, Looks good........................................... F**K!!"

Be patient, glassing, painting, turfing, sanding, all the tedious jobs turn out better when not rushed. Its too easy to rush though, human nature.
