Although I would recommend using the stock bumpers and only turfing the top of the rail next to the hood or just where you need it and not the entire rail.

Turf is held by glue. More prone to failure than rivets (OEM bumpers/rails)
I would also fill the holes in the rail before turfing, get some filler.
I would also suggest doing this partially sober. While I enjoy nothing more than getting jarred and working on skis/sleds, some things require attention to detail. Usually when I've had too much substance, the job always turns out not as planned. You know it right after you finished it too.

Be patient, glassing, painting, turfing, sanding, all the tedious jobs turn out better when not rushed. Its too easy to rush though, human nature.
