turf selection

I want some input on what to order from Hydro-Turf.

I want the dimond cut turf that looks most like tire tread. Is that cut or molded?

I"m going to do the rails, tray with rickers and some kind of front foothold (high roller or similar) that will be turfed. Should I get a kit with a little extra or get a sheet/sheets?

Thanks.

The molded has a very consistent diamond shape, but the cut can sometimes end up with very long diamonds. Not sure if that helps.

IMO, the molded IS nicer looking and feeling. BUT, they only offer it in black. If you want any other color, you'll have to get cut. It's not the end of the world if you do....but we are noticing that the cut seems to break down a little faster than the molded.

You can turf a standup with one sheet, two sheets will give you some room for mistakes and extra for turfing the unconventional areas like the top of the hood or bottom of the pole.
Once you have your footwells in you can make a template. I just make a template out of paper and masking tape then trace the outline on the sheet. If you make all of your templates first you can lay them all on the sheet at once so you can get optimum usage and not waste anything. It's a good idea to label the top and bottom of the templates too, I've ended up with two right side rails from not paying attention.

Oh, and pay attention to the direction of the diamond. One of my rails goes up and down, the other goes side to side. :headbang: :headbang:
