I didnt ride my FX much before I tore it all apart to build it up. I put on some sponsons from SJL. I really like how stable it is in the rapids but I cant get it to lay over like a 550 or even a SJ. I was under the impression that I could carve harder on it with these sponsons but all it will do it flat turn. Could i move them to get it to lay over better? Or should i take them off? No one has a FX around here that I could ride to compare it too. Any suggestions?

It's another one of those "rider preference" things....I can't carve turns well either when the "sponsons" are mounted flush on the bottom. But there are guys that have them mounted flush, and will rip a 1 leg drag turn around you with ease. :spankme:

I like my sponsons mounted up about 1/2-3/4 inch high, it allows the ski to roll more on edge, like stock to carve ....and makes for a sketchy high speed ride.

Ill probably try those, i like the shape alot better than the SJL. But not gonna happen now, riding season starts within the week. Too much other work to do in the meantime. New tubbies will have to wait.

Who has actual reviews of different tubbies tried on a FX?

hi,

i've just try my Fx1 after all winter work and i really love my #zero sponsons.

i've mounted them flush to the bottom, my impression are :

really more stable on all speed .
easier on carving .
