It was hands down the best performing ski ive ever ridden.

The power delivery was so smooth and soft, that I felt like i was on a stock ski. it was unreal.

and the handling was even better. it wasnt just the sponsons, it was the whole package. no joke.

Chapin built this ski in less than a week. And he and Chris have spent a few days setting it up. Whatever feedback Chris gave seemed to be the ticket.

I keep training my ass off to get on these guys level and Ive been wasting my time. after riding this ski i need to be a better tester cause theres no way i could ever figure out how to get a ski to handle like this one does. i waste so much energy fighting my ski because it isnt set up right for the speeds it goes.

throw in the fact that its the same speed as my Hydrospace was. no wonder Mac embarrased everyone in that first moto in Nashville.

we'll see if we can replicate this setup on my ski before the finals. i wont have the hp this year, but if i can get the handling the same, i'll do just fine at the finals. i guess the good news is that unlike most ever Factory or Factory backed effort of the last 15 years, Mac will be selling this exact same package out of his shop next year.

If i have one of these skis for next year it will be a dream come true. i'll only use one crank, one set of reeds. maybe change top ends a couple times, and practice and race on it all year long like i do my current setup. its the perfect mod ski.

i know this review must read like a load of bs. but after i and flores rode mac's ski, we put ours on the trailer and didnt even want to ride ours anymore.

Big Kahuna, you beat me to that question. I too, am curious for the reason behind the cuts in the R&D.

Ive taken a good look at this ski, and everything seems to be off the shelf stuff. its more the combination of parts than anything.

I think current stock skis and limiteds handle great. But todays Open class skis are going damn near 15mph faster than they were built for. I think about all the handling mods and fabrication we do to our 15F's that go 20+ mph than they were intended and I cant believe we dont put that kind of work into our standups. Standups in my experience are far more demanding to the body yet there is much less work done to make them handle despite all the hp we throw at them. Its no secret that races are won in the corners.

Yes, the ride plate and scoop grate are prototypes. Im lobbying hard for these both to be be released to the public for next year. But if it dont make dollars, it dont make sense. Regardless, I can guarantee, that on custom skis built out of the shop, the grate and plate will be custom made for the customer. Similar to what we do for the 15F's handling package.

I know my review seems like a tease. But I dont want to give numbers and specs and get in any more trouble for running my mouth. Not everyone in this camp is in entire agreement on how certain things should be marketed, and Im tired of fighting about it, so I gotta watch what I say in public.

Trust me, theres a lot I'd like to tell everyone about the motor/handling package of both Mac's standup and runnabout (such as specifics). Sorry, its outta my control.

I cant talk about the plate-how it works and why. Im already in the dog house due to the fact that people know it exists. All I can do is lobby with the bean counters at R&D to get them to release it to everyone. Tooling cost a lot of money, they got to see the difference and the difference has to be good enough to warrant the change. Its up to me and every other team member to do our job at the Finals and put the proof in the pudding I guess.

As far as the sponsons, we are getting a production run done ASAP. We should have some for sale, I'd be very suprised if we didnt.

Ragged Edge, I'll be doing each mod to my ski one at a time over the next week and a half. First sponsons, then plate, then race rails. I'll be trying to figure out which part of Mac's package is making the difference where and how much a difference the whole setup makes.

If my ski still doesnt handle the same, Im gonna start messing with the pump setup (mine and Mac's is quite a bit different).

I'll post results of my personal findings as I learn them. Fair enough?
