Tubbies on an SXR

Ive always wondered how an sxr would handle with tubbies on them, and now that I saw MAC's sxr equipped with them this weekend I am wondering if they are really that much better for the sxr. Keep in mind his ski is a SS, so its wicked fast and the trim helps utilize the tubbies, as compared to a stock class sxr. I wish tubbies werent so permanent cuz I'd love to try them on an sxr. anyone have any thoughts about this?

Hey Luke
Don't know if you remember him but Eric Hahr that raced the Midwest watercross Tour a couple years ago and shows up now and again has them on his sxr. Remar would be able to hook you up with some contact info. You can see his boat on the JSU site under gallery and sponsored riders.
ohh and get out to worlds this year its a blast racing in arizona!!!!

What the hell I asked this two years ago on PWCtoday and got ripped apart that I shouldn't be ridding a SXR if I think I need tubbies...bastards

It's funny how people jump on the band wagon once someone 'respected' tries something no else has done or contemplated. Now if you're a regular 'joe' and do the same, you get ripped apart.:cool2:

They were tubbies.................
even said so.....

Like I said, not sure if that was Warners or not, may have brought it out himself if Warner did not have room in the trailer..........
who knows, either way, wicked fast

I would guess that they would not really make much of a difference for a rec rider... maybe it would help when railing bouys, but SXR's are so stable already... Kinda seems like too much

I asked Mac at the Nationals about the tubbies. He said it made the ski a lot easier to role over in the turns. Also said it helped with straight line stability. I guess when you are running a 64mph+ sxr, all the stability help you can get would be appreciated. I know one thing, his butt was AWESOME out there in pro ski. He made everyone else look like scrubs.

to clarify...

That was NOT Craig Warners SXR that Mac was on. It was his own, built by Bill Chapin. We are developing new spec's for next year. Basically, a very similar package to what Ive ran the last two years. But finally an alternative to the billet head, downdraft, msd, timebombs that have dominated the market the last couple years (basically old tech). A whole new Open Class SXR spec from the ground up that has already been proven to be a reliable engine package, were just squezzin more hp out of it now.

Plenty reliable, but can boost the compression and turned into a Pro Class winning calibre ski, as shown by Mac in Nashville.

And yes, an SXR has built in sponsons. In addition, weve been testing these new Tubbie style sponsons, which we hope to have available at the finals for sale.

I havent tried them personally on my SXR, but I will ride Mac's ski this weekend and be able to give my own report here if you'd like.

I did ride a HS with a set on them. Lets just say those sponsons tamed that pile o crap. i rode my hs for 6 months every weekend, could never get the hang of it for the life of me. the tubbies did the trick.

Mac's SXR didnt lose any speed from them. As soon as were done testing, they'll go into production and be available for all. Not sure how they'll work on a Stock or Limited ski. Also, definitly affects the way your rideplate works so their may be a new ride plate on the market next year also to go along with the sponsons.
