Super Jet tubbie vs tubbie destroyer

ive ridden plenty of skis with them that were setup exactaly the same as mine, the only difference being destroyers instead of tubbie ones..when im coming into a turn i push down on the nose to get the rail set..i like the bow to be able to sink in a little when im initiating a turn...i dont pearl very often unless I totally mess up so i dont need the extra width/stability...i want my ski to be able to transfer form rail to rail as easy as possible..it needs to be as narrow as possible but wider/rounder than stock ..if you are just doing one turn per wave it dosnt matter as much but if i do a turn off the top and the wave is closing out i will try to immeditatly change direction mid face and go back up to hit it again...i need the bow to dig in a little to get that direction change..my point being that the tubbie 1s are more than capable of keeping you from pearling and providing a rounder rail than stock which allows the ski to track when layed over...

see 1:05 in this video it will show you what im talking about regarding the nose digging in mid face...

Skis are like ipods, they're personalized to their owner. When I suggest a set up to a beginner rider I try and suggest setups that have been proven by the masses. A Superjet with Destroyers and a D cut plate is about as generic as it gets and is the best all around set up for any beginner (and most advanced) riders. You are I are very experienced surf riders and we both come from a surfing background. If you and I were to trade skis for a day we would most likely hate each others set up because we have different styles and likes. However, our set ups, different as they are, work equally well for both of us, because we know what we like in a ski. The main difference is we have enough experience to know what we want. For anyone who's asking, the safest bet is to advise them to the generic set up. When they have enough experience to know what they're looking for in a set up, they won't be asking others advice. BTW that's some sick riding in your vid! I've seen it before!

I know what you are saying..but In my opinion the tubbie 1s are the generic setup being that the destroyers are fairly new..sense he already has the 1s there is no reason to switch..once he gets better having the ski lay over easier cause it narrower will help him..if he was starting from scratch he Might as well get the destroyers cause they are easier to put on but i don't think they are as high performance What he has already will work good enough while he is learning and be ideal once he has it dialed..

Here is my ski right now. Here is my ride plate that I just did 2 weeks ago. All I have been doing the last couple of weeks is turning and cutting. The way it sits right now it cuts supper hard and will turn on a dime. It is very easy to dip the nose all the way in and crank the back end around. It is actually really easy to push it down far enough to nose in to the point of a sub.

And just to throw it out there, I watched that video early. Looks great I look forward to being able to ride like both of you guys. I ride with John "227" and he has some huge sponsons on his ski. I have see him rail that thang back and forth through consecative turns at speed.

Ya at this point I havent been too horrably happy with the way they have felt compared to other roundies Ive ridden only for the one reason that it feels a bit unpredictable. Then again the ski has a couple other issues that could be causing that also. I will deffinitly fill that in and round it off more.
Thanks for all the help guys I will take a bunch of pictures while doing the build and post up all that I am doing. thanks again.
