Tubbie Screws: leave 'em in or not?

I installed my tubbies about two months ago using 5200 (I can't remember if I used fast cure or not). I wanted to take the screws out and fill the holes. Anyone have any issues with doing this? I am going to repaint the bottom after daytona and I want a nice clean look.

have to fill the tubies with that foam we use in footholds. filler foam.

so the screws go all the way in the boat it are they small.

are they hard to put in compared to footholds

and are they worth the cash

They come already filled with foam. I didn't get the screws so I bought my own. I screwed them in then cut them off from the inside. They are easier to install than footholds. I bought mine for $50 less than Blowsion sells them and I would say they are DEFINITELY worth it. I have tubbie 2's and love them for flatwater and surf, some will debate that however.

if you used 5200 and didn't glass them in I'd leave the screws.

I've heard about them falling off, breaking apart, etc. So, I left the screws in (cut the ends off, and then did a layer of reinforcement), 5200'd the ****:censored: out of them, and then did cabosil, and 2 layers of glass, and then 2-3 coats of resin and sanded them smooth. Maybe I'll just countersink them in and lay some glass right over them then.

Why would you take them out? If you did it correctly, you put tubbie, screw with stainless, glass over and paint. Screws will be covered and can only provide extra support.

Leave the screws in for sure. Blowsion wouldn't include nice stainless ones if they weren't meant to be permanent. Too many guys have taken them out and later had the tubbies rip off the ski.

I've been debating putting them on my RN that I am building right now. It will be a flat water and Surf boat.
Any feedback? I had the old Riva sponsons on one of my race skis years ago and I have heard tubbie 2's are WAY better.

I left mine in for a while but they loosen up after a bit .

If you glassed them in and let 5200 cure properly you don't have to worry about taking out the screws .

I took mine out to prep for new paint and the screws have a rounded top so they don't countersink well .Blowsion should use screws that fit better especailly for $300 for a flimsy piece of fiberglass filled with foam .
