I put Tubbie 1's on over the winter, and elected to hold them up about 1/4 inch from the bottom but in the positioning reccomended by Blowsion at 36 1/4 from the rear. On flat water the chine walk is absolutely terrible with a full tank of fuel, not as bad after you burn off about 1/2 tank. After letting Suva, Gasgas, and CPR ride it yesterday, they all agree its not ideal for flat water. However in the surf I don't even notice it at all. Since they can't be taken off, should I fair them into the bottom this winter with glass and thickened epoxy, or just leave them and forget about it? Just wondered if the 1's are worse than 2's for the ill handling.

Interesting.
I know Luke isn't prejudiced towards Tubbies on Flatwater - he seems to like my setup just fine.

I have noticed a difference in chine walk between my boat and Char's boat. (Both T2)
I don't really have any input. I know it sucks.
All I can say is that you'll probably get used to it and not notice it anymore.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
Mine sucks on flatwater too.
I think in the surf it's hard to notice small improvements in handling because of the rough surf, at least where I live .

It has to be better beacuse it is wider now ,it will take a while to adjust your riding style .

I found his to be way more stable than mine, perhaps its just waterlogged and heavy....lol. I would understand the difference in yours, its 2 inches shorter.

He hasn't ridden the short hull yet.
He liked it in stock length.

They mainly suck when you're just cruising and barely on plane. I have lots of pressure on the nose of my ski and it doesn't handle like Jeff's, is it just a Tubbie 1 thing?
Glad to hear you made it back ok, was that roll attempt crazy or what! Next time for sure...:headbang:

My buddy has a limited Rd nose with about 20lbs of epoxy and glass in the nose of his ski, and with Tubbie 2's the boat is great in corners and all water conditions, and I don't notice much chine walk at all.... But his boat is like trying to freestyle a log to me, I think it is just because his ski is about 50lbs heavier then mine, and my motor is fully ported with 44's.

With all that said, I can hold my 280lb ski wide open with no tubbies in any water condition up to 2ft of river slop.

Sounds like you have to much weight in the nose.
I added most of a gallon kit doing the entire ski reinforcement, front to rear, pole bracket, new tray etc, tubbies, footholds, probably even distibution all over from that, ski feels light but hull is 122 pounds.

Thats not to bad. Maybe just try to stay back a little more in the tray, sounds like you just have too much hull in the water.

A small battery and a Kart tank will surely take alot of weight off the nose.... but you have to be willing to make a sacrifice on fuel range. I get about 45-50 minutes on a tank.... for the most part I am fine with that. The benefits are worth it for me.
