trying to get into the game

This is my first post here, been lurking for a bit now. Im more frequent on truck related forums like s10forum, dropNdrag, customtacos, streetsource, etc with the same username. hoping to be a more frequent poster but it would be easier if i get a ski first.

I need x-h2o members opinions on if this is a good deal for me, I have never had a stand up so from searching on here I figure i would like a RN SJ instead of getting something else and wanting it later on down the road. I have been talking to someone selling a ski here are the specs.

2001 yamaha superjet
-waterdawg rev foot holds
-500 rule bilge
-blowsion handle bilge switch
-umi 0 degree bars
-umi finger throttle
-some sorta quick steer, probably the freebie mod
-RD ride plate
-RD intake grate
-skat trak prop 14/18 i think
-new turf also on rails.

Check the compression, and ask a lot of questions. Make sure to find out what kind of oil it's been run on, and what mix ratio. Ask about what's been replaced, etc. Salt or freshwater would affect the condition of the ski, too.

thanks, the guy says its fresh. I will have to bring my compression kit when i go check it out. I probably cannot test ride the ski which sucks cause my dry suit is getting the seals replaced, nor would i know what im looking for anyway. gotta start somewhere though.

as you can tell im totally new to this, so if i get one im gonna be asking alot of questions haha. but what would forums be if no one asked questions. anyone have air ride/minitruck related questions i can answer those!

The search function will help you find answers to most any question you might have about working on a SJ. A great resourse.

where on long island are you? we ride out of freeport once or twice a week all season.

you will definitely want a pipe and a head right away... stock power sucks in close duration surf. prop sounds a bit tall too, but if you bore the nozzle you will probably be okay.

Trucks look good, you have a lot of work in that. If you pull a trailer you need to lower the trailer. I lowered the trailer I pull behind my xB and painted it to match the car.

Very nice truck... I had an 88' blazer that I started and never finished lol, I had to many things going on when I started it.

Right now though I'm looking for a 67-72 C10. I would love to tow the ski's with a bagged old school C10.

looks nice... throw a pipe and a head on it and you will be golden.

maybe some reinforcement once you start going into the bigger surf.
