Tray reinstallation questions

I'm currently reinstalling the tray that I cut out to defoam it. How much fiberglass is needed to splice the tray back in? 1-2 layers of 18 oz fabric? 3-4?

I do remember you and a few others completely glassing the whole tray but for some reason I was thinking you guys used like 5-6 layers of glass. It didn't say in the thread though...What weight biax did you use?

We rivet the tray back together with 3" wide strips of aluminum, and then glass over with 1-2 layers of 17 OZ knytel biax...........

No issues yet on with any of them........

usually comes in 12 and 17 oz from what I recall (atleast that is what they had available at Fiberglass Hawaii in Ventura). They call it 1208 and 1708... In addition you can purchase it with or without fiberglass mat on the back, which adds to the weight.

Two layers of 17oz. biaxle would be thinner than the stock tray and three layers would be just a bit thicker.
