It's most commonly mounted on a plate that goes where the stock electrical box normally bolts up.
THe old analog style can be mounted inside a stock ebox.
You can mount the brain separately on a plate on the bulkhead or on the gas tank.
The coils can be mounted on a separate plate on the tank or near the battery, or by the bulkhead.

Go to Jetskisolutions.com for some ideas.

I got a tank mount bracket for sale, btw.,

Just the brain. Not sure what the point was, other than keeping the coils away from the brain.

But I run everything on one plate now, even with non-resistor plugs, and it runs without a problem.

How about this? I gotta give props to crammit442 for making this for me. I'm using a single channel setup and decided to use the OEM coil instead of MSD's. I also have the Jet Ski Solutions terminals on it. So far, it appears to be running fine, but I only have an hour or two on it. The solenoid, coil and switches are inside the OEM ebox.

Looks like a good reliable surf setup:biggthumpup:

ok more questions.......btw i have old style prro series 2.........the guy said the rev limit was 8000, retard start point was 5000, and rate is 3% per 1000rpm.......how much advance timing should i run for a 701 with b pipe and greater yamaha head?

My mounting. Not as "surf friendly" but in flat fresh water where I ride I'm not too concerned. Solenoid and power/ground wires hidden behind battery and under exhaust hose. Coils mount on top of the odyssey battery on a custom bracket. John's work (JSS)...

16 to 18 static, are you sure? That's very low.

On my relatively conservative pumpgas setup, I run 29 static

Plot out the timing curve. You will want to be under 20 degrees at 6000.
I would start the retard sooner and/or retard at a greater rate.

I have mine mounted to a plate. Here it is on the aluminum plate I also have a carbon fiber one but no pics of that:

isnt their something about adding 5 degrees for that brain so then it would be 21-23 when its running?

I don't recall if that's the case for the analog brain.

In any event - you're going backwards. The 5 degree thing is supposed to work in a safety sense. You dial in 30 degrees static with the brain LED. The actual timing is then 25 degrees.

On top of that - when I refered to timing, I mean actual timing, verified with independed timing light.

21-23 degrees static is still extremely mild.

Yep a must or you really don't know what you are running. Good idea even with a non-TL system especially if using an aftermarket Flywheel.
