My apologies Nick/everyone, I had forgotten all about this until Goddess called me today. Originally (Jan 08) they required a contract, and standard rates were at $179.00 pre-tax. I was able to do away with the contract, and obtain a rate of $129.00 pre-tax (city/bed tax is 12.5%). That’s two people in a room, @ $72.50, four people @ $36.28. I imagine they might have roll-away beds upon request, but I thought I would leave that up to individuals. This rate is available from 1/12/08-1/25/08, in order to attempt to encompass all travel plans. Realizing what it was earlier in the year, understandably it’s a phenomenal deal, all things considered, and can make your visit to the Sunshine State a bit more comfortable.

Without a contract, anyone can simply now call the 800 number and state the name of the event, plus this eliminates any responsibility or headaches for Nick. If anyone already booked a room, just call back and explain the information was not confirmed until after you booked (any problems, just shoot Nick a pm, and he can get with me if necessary). Simply don’t call until Thursday, because corporate will not have the information to the reps @ the 800 number until then. 1/800-874-7420. Parking for trailers is easily accommodated in their back parking deck, which is walled off from the beach access, providing security (supposedly there are patrols as well).

The resort has a history of being one of the oldest Florida hotels still in operation. That said, although newly renovated, it is not your standard 4/5 star luxury resort, yet this gives it much character, imo. The clientele would be quite different from the other hotels on the strip, yet it does not have an all-inclusive feel to it at all. I think your ladies might find many aspects appealing, and it would definitely keep them happy enough probably. I have stayed multiple times myself now, so I will vouch for it at least as far as all of that goes. http://www.plazaresortandspa.com/hotel/history.php

It’s probably a wise thing to say positive things about the general area where the meet is located, so quit your beotchin R-2D-2, and hook it up! Call the Hilton, work the same type of deal out at a discounted rate, start a thread, and throw the link in it with the details, for I’ve already done my part mostly.

Slutty decided he wanted to know about this for some others he had referred to the Plaza (just as he had for me years ago, and I believe I’ve seen where your local buddy, Robert, refers others to the Plaza as well on this site, so maybe you should take your grievances up with them). My last stay there was Tona 08, paid over $2 for my room daily, by the time taxes hit.

A group of us from varying states swung by as usual during meets, I ran upstairs to change while they all hung out having drinks downstairs messin with the pretty bartender (clarification, Goddess wasn’t messin with her, lol). I don’t think they checked out the room, for I recall I didn’t book a club room, which always has access to a private lounge upstairs for guests, so maybe that is why (or perhaps they don’t have club room set-ups… again, it is a unique type of hotel, due to its long history, I simply don’t recall why now ). They all asked the rates, and said they planned to stay there for Tona 09. That was ten months ago, so I doubt anything has gone down hill as far as service or amenities in that time period. Still, I will relay your feedback to corporate today, see if they are willing to discount lower or simply laugh at you, and I’ll let everyone know.

I haven’t booked my room yet, so if you take the initiative to work something decent out at the Hilton, and it looks like something I’m interested in, I will consider it of course, as I’m sure others will. I believe I checked their website out years ago, when I first stayed at the Plaza, and I simply wasn’t as impressed; then again, I haven’t been inside that particular Hilton, and they are all different (some nice, some not). Again, the Plaza is cool because of the history, and a few of its amenities which I didn’t see offered at the Hilton back then (more than likely it was the spa which sold me mostly as usual, but I honestly don’t recall). Let us all know what you work out, the more options, the better for those interested, and it will only help the meet out overall. Just ensure you check on the secure parking of trailers as well.

More than likely, the people choosing to stay at either will simply choose and stay, without announcing where they will actually be staying, for privacy reasons understand. Basically, I thought I would throw this out, get feedback if any, and only then attempt to put more time into it if necessary, via trying to get a lower price by any parties requesting it. Again, I will hit corporate up at the Plaza, and see what they say, just for you.

I thought the other hotels were $55.00+ with maybe the 12.5% tax added, not sure. Two people in one room splitting costs, that’s just $50 more a night each. Maybe some people wish to swing that, whereas others will prefer to stay in the original spots for liking to party non-stop, etc…not caring about their surroundings therefore. The option is there now, either way (simply re-visit “The Florida Plague” thread from ’08 to learn why).

The Plaza was also willing to host the meet when I asked in January (at a much reduced rate I would imagine with that many people), so I wouldn’t knock them too hard online. Things can always go wrong at other hard-earned, secured spots. Also, they simply offer more amenities and a different scale of exposure for the up and coming sport, for it almost always ultimately comes down to a matter of networking on the latter…financial backing and the clout to open doors (that does appear to be of interest to many, whereas others wish to leave it free/unobstructed via commercialism…not much stays free in life for long, so enjoy it while you can and quit moaning…just improve on things when you can instead, because Nick does work hard enough at all of this already for everyone). Again, I’ll be interested in what you, or someone else motivated, comes up with. I’ll let you know what I find out at the Plaza later today if possible.

And dang En…that took an entire cup of hot tea upon awakening, ya lil $#($@…get with the program! I think you just need a lil fire run is all, but while you’re waiting, make those calls and start a new thread.

Also, (LOL)...it was directly around the corner from where we all meet up one night, which was convenient, not sure if the plans are in the same general area or not, but doesn't really matter to me personally. I think I'm done for the moment...just afterthoughts is all. I'll mess with the Plaza later today, lol, or you. <smile>

dammm u wrote a bible in there......i live in daytona for 9 years now and i stay in pretty much every hotel and the plaza hotel is not close to woth the price that they ask is my opinion the hilton or ocean walk are better resorts with more amenities even a big azz movie theater that u can go with bars and restaurants on it, the plaza is history just a good look from the outside and same 30 years old rooms in the inside....i will talk to the hilton and ocean walk and will see what they can offer, but i did my part i setup the after party in the colisium so really i dont care were ppl stay is miles of hundred hotels in a1a that i am sure they be happy to have ppl from the freeride us a guess with affordable prices, i am sure with the crisis that the country is now people is up to that deal of saving some bucks and do more riding! if u want to of couse u can stay in my place i am just minutes away from the freeride!:)~~~~~

(was a thesis)
The news on Louie put me in a funk yesterday, so I didn’t call the Plaza, but I will still. I did check out the Hilton’s site again. One thing I noticed is they appear to have a daycare service, and that might be helpful to some. I do have an extreme aversion to the 70ish looking room décor though, preferring more of a South Beach, Cali or truly antique feel to things myself (yet there are things I don’t like about the Plaza’s rooms as well 4sure). I’m a female, so the history does have an appeal to me still, and maybe the management simply doesn't understand your French accent...not sure what the specifics in your quote are, but I'll take your word for it of course. You never know til you go is my rule of thumb.

So, I’m in need of a respite trip…I’ll check out the Hilton before TD myself. You seem pretty metrosexual, so I’ll cover a power peel micro dermabrasion treatment for you, if you want to check the spa out with me (lol, provided I can film…this might be fun…we can get some Crown and drag Nick over there :Banane35:). Sweet of you on the open house for Tona, but we wouldn’t wish to be any trouble…thx anyway though. ~ ~ ~ ~

Remember, copy the text directly below, and then paste it into the link:

…cept the vanity part of course!

(kinda reminds me of Dorothy clicking her Manolo Blahniks three times, repeating, “There’s no place like home…”)

Nick, try the “are you a psychic” link later tonight, haha (you’ll LUV it lol)!

Hey guys!!! Bernson is still out of those new Fall Moto boots! Can you believe THIS????

All jokes aside…down to serious business! I just tore the strap on my b-bag, so I need a new purse!!! Where’s the closest place to Ocean Walk I might find another blue pebbled leather Fendi? (or do I need to simply replace it here in Winter Park probably, HA HA )

work???? I did see the roof you did in Longwood... looked good

:haha: (you think that's gonna help him now?)

What did he DO…arrange lunch at the nearest four-star Mexican restaurant for the construction workers handling the roof? :wiggle:

(I KNOW you’re laughing, even though you won’t admit it, cuz I’m a chick, LOL.:wall:)

After some research and phone calls, I found and called this place:

http://www.oceanwalkshoppes.com/oceanview.html

I was bored, :dunno: so I asked upper management over at Ocean Walk Shoppes if they had heard from a foul mouthed Mexican boy. They said NO!!! So, I started chattering as usual, fired off one vid of Ross and the latest of Pierre’s with a few facts, and then followed-up with another call. Boss fired it off to corporate that same day (now that’s some interest there), and Boss has been there since the very beginning of business). Obviously Boss is seriously interested in hosting Tona 10. Are you interested is the question (that’s why I didn’t provide the website link)? If not, good people for me to know in general.

It’s .09 north of the current locale (I looked, due to what Metro said about the coliseum). The publicity they could generate via marketing on behalf of the event, and in turn the sport, could be mind-boggling (their network/clout is immense, assets total over $160,000,000, quite diversified indeed…interestingly so actually), and everyone’s wife’s/girlfriend’s, children, family members, guests could be well treated to many things upon breaking from the beach scene (which they want, as well as spectators). Boss is extremely networked with both beachfront resorts understandably, the Hilton and the Wyndham, so of course I said that is of interest at reduced prices (free would be nice, at least pro-circuit riders). If this is something of interest to you (would be mad if not…these people can get it in the Xgames, and then some), hit me up with wishes, and I can gear it that way. I’ll be going up to take my respite trip after the holiday now, simply for still feeling wicked currently, but we’ll be meeting then.

I still haven’t spoken with The Plaza about getting lower rates or perks, only because I was waiting on Enzo to work a deal where he said he would, so I could use it as leverage, but I will when I get up there next week (I need to pick up that black diamond hydroturf I left at your house as well).

(and Quick, you are correct on the spa for riders, I didn't go...was barely even at my hotel for being at the beach mostly, but it was nice to know I could go if wished. I was thinking more about significant others, family, friends...)

Wha,huh wth,wtf?

No offense, but I'm not sure we're a first class crowd as a whole. I mean, I like a first class hotel as much as the next guy, but the Makai seems to be right on par with what we need. You're not going to keep people from making a mess of the rooms or doing burnouts in the parking lot so we might as well stay somewhere that expects it and accepts it.

Moondance

Just plain me....
