yeah man look at where the pivot is, that is all pull on that, no leverage at all. plus look how far your finger has to reach to get it. the best throttle ever is the rebuildable and angle adjustable one from tbm, riva is also selling them(repackaged for riva). they are smooth and by tilting the angle to where it gives you the best grip it relieves a lot of that inside wrist pain. I had it and after riding a ski with the tbm I just knew that the money was well worth it. not sure how to describe it best but it seems to me that by lowering the angle down im already starting with a more clenched hand and not reaching as far for the lever.

I ordered one from XMetal years ago, Pat forgot to ship it with my bars and turn plate (this was 2004). I tried to get him to send it overnight, but he did not have the adapter so that kinda had me in a pinch. Called Kevin at Wamiltons, he hooked me up on an SE (SATA) finger throttle. That is by far the best finger throttle I have ever used. Still run it to this day. It also had a preload tensioner on it to adjust the reach.

Too bad they are virtually extinct. I had the pleasure of riding with one a couple years ago and haven't come across another since.

Scrap link above. that the Hot Products version. But it is very close. In link above it shows the latest generation of the SE with the hole drilled in it. mine does not have the hole.

Yeah these are the Hot Products el cheapo throttles. They also happen to be my personal favorite! Cheapo throttle+worn down Ruffians+new throttle cable with buttery smooth pull= winner! You'll never have an ounce of finger or wrist fatigue running that combo!

I just have a hard time believing its the grips, I have had them for years, the only new part is the throttle. Just by making a fist and putting my finger out, the pain goes into my wrist right now

That is not a throttle problem. Early warning side of a medical problem.

Ask your doctor about trigger finger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigger_finger You are likely developing this or a similar medical problem. Think about people who ask about poles and bars when they have developed tennis elbow, which is tendonitis and needs to be addressed.

Larger diameter grips contribute to throttle pump. Typically associated with dirt bikes twist throttle, it happens in all of our sports. I get it wicked bad on my quad with a thumb throttle. My forearms will feel like they are on fire. The muscles associated with your grip and finger movement are all working from your forearm. They are all related. If you develop a grip problem, you will feel it in your fingers. I agree to try smaller grips.

You are likely developing a tendon issues in your forearms. I would suggest you focus your attention on recovery rather than new parts. Ask your doctor.

Meanwhile... You should also work on your forearm primarily, as well as your upper arm, shoulder, chest and back. Everything is connected.

Use to get arm pump racing. With many sports you do get conditioned to it. Have to build up some stamina. But like others have said. Lose the rogue grips. Those are huge and causing some of your pain.

ok, I am going to get some ODI's that my friend has, hopefully my locking collars come off. And I will try the adjustment on the throttle I have now to pull in closer and see how that helps.

Vumad, now that I think I need to the Dr, it has only been getting worse. the exercises I have been doing have helped, but not enough I guess

Years of milking cows, working construction, and riding various toys (atv, motorcycle, and mostly snowmobiles) have left me with some wicked tennis elbow/golfers elbow/tendinitis. After a long day of riding sled on nasty trails, the pain is almost unbearable that evening and the following day. Blah blah blah, what I do to correct it is, massage my forearms. Its easier to have someone do it to you, simply because massaging my right arm hurts my left arm and vice versa.

Use some lotion, and massage the 'outside' of your forearms. Press down firmly and massage/slide up towards your elbow. You don't want to massage down towards your hands, since it could push the swelling into your hands/wrists. You'll know when you find the right spot because it'll hurt like a beotch. Suck it up, and do it. If this is your problem it'll improve quite quickly, but don't stop once it gets a little better because it'll just return.

Also straight bars and a straight finger throttle bothered me a lot on skis. On my bob I had a UMI angled throttle, and that was much more comfortable for me. And it got even better when I put some mountain bike bars on that had a little bit of angle to them. It just felt more natural than trying to hold onto a straight bar

My 2 cents.

Here is my set up, it was comfy for me
