which way do you turn the stator to advance the timing on a 701 motor, up or down
I have a msd enhancer how much can I turn the stator.
thank for any help.

i dont understand how you judge 2-3mm. without measuring. does 2-3 become 3-4 or 3-5? never tried it but was told by more then one person its easy to blow up your ski.

its not the down low advance you have to worry about
but advancing your stator plate advances your entire curve
its up top it will blow

unless you are VERY careful, and run really good fuel, and limit the WOT runs.

like basically NO WOT runs, or very short blirps.

and also some extra cooling probably wouldnt hurt.

dangerous territory for the slight gains it would give down low.

it certainly will not help
on my ski i have 34 degrees advance down low
but it pulls back to 14 at 7000rpm
i can run this thing all day on pump fuel
and i can go flat out for as long as i like
well actually i got bored after a 1/2 mile so i backed off
but you get the idea

It made noticeable gains in low end for me.
BUT I run a stock head also w/ pump gas, I think that helps keep me safe. Also, I don't run WOT for more than a few seconds.
It's a fast mofo :Banane01:

I run mine 2 degrees advance with an enhancer. But yep, I know it could blow . . . for me that's part of the game. Blown a few in the last year or year and a half.

I guess "You're not livin' til' your damn near dead." just seems appropriate here.

Actually lent my ski out to a buddy who knew no better and ripped it at full throttle across the lake and jumped it out of the water without letting off of the throttle - and it didn't seem to harm it (yet).
