It's no different than rolling your ski over in the water, and much easier on it than landing upsidedown.

Empty the gas and do it. If a mount lets go, then it was bad and already needed replacing.

i thought i read not to far back that someone fliped their ski over to work on it on a set of stands and even placed a vertical 2X4 under the engine to the ground to help support the engine, and he ended up ripping all 4 mounts...

then they were ready for replacement!

we flip ski's upside down, on the side, vertical all the time....no problems..

Stand the ski up with two short 2 X 4 s under it. It will make it easier to mask off the bottom and you can put paper on the floor when painting. Yes drain the tank and bungee cord the pole down it makes it easier to move around when vertical. If it will be up for a while attach to nose ring to the wall with a strap. Don’t want to be sanding and have the ski fall over on you.

Nah.

mine go over, sideways, straight up, straight down, whatever, tank full, tank empty, in the water, on the driveway, whatever.

they are no strangers to pavement, gravel, the yard, hull down, hull up, no matter.

it WONT hurt anything to roll it around and get the best angle to paint it.

Thanks guys.

I was just goign to hit the bottom real quick but now i'm thinking I may smooth it out... and fill the voids.

What do you guys suggest to fill the voids with, and that's sandable of course?

The Good Old Days
Let me tell you my story.

I had my ski upside down (motor and all) for 2 weeks.
Sanded the hull and filled in the scratches with marine tex till it was just right.
Sprayed it white than did the sides and front in black for the added "bling" factor and style points.
On the very first ride I did a sub, stuck the nose into the bottom and as luck would have it there was a rock right next to the impact point.
As a result the new paint looked like a$$.

The moral of the story is,
1-my motor mounts held up just fine with the motor dangling for 2 weeks.
2-don't spend too much time getting the bottom perfect as it will get beat up.
