Super Jet This winters Project

The first Pic is how my 99 SJ sits now...the second one shows my small projects for this winter. I hope the Head and Flywheel end up to be worth the $$. Foothold install scares me a bit.

Thanks. After reading all of the how-to threads about installing footholds I am not that thrilled about getting it started. I will get going and post some pics one of these days. I figure there are many long dark cold days here in Chicago so there is no big hurry!!

So I got to work on taking the turf off for the foothold install and took the Riva wet pipe to the polishing wheel. I'm going to take the stock head off and put the ADA head on soon. Does anyone know what the hose (pictured) coming from the stock head does and what do I do with it when I put the ADA head on because there is nowhere to put it on the ADA head.

That is the temp sensor. It tells the motor to shut off if it gets to hot. Most people don't run it at all. You can get a block off thing for your ebox from a guy on here. OCD solutions. Or you can just leave it in and zip tie it out of the way.

Looks like fun. Footholds are not that hard to do a nice install. Just be patient, Lets see an update.

A wire wheel on your makita can help. In a foothold install harbor freight is your friend for low price tools that can be tossed if needed. Goo the extra mile to make sure you seal em up good. What kind of footholds did you go with ???

I forgot to take pics, but I got the head changed, the flywheel changed (luckily it came off super easy), and got one foothold hole cut. Just wanted to write what tools I used in case someone is a first time foothold insataller like me. I used a Black and Decker multi tool with the scraper blade to get the turf and glue off. It worked REALLY well and didn't require messy chemicals. For the foothold I used a Dremel with a cutting wheel and that worked really nice too. I liked it because it really doesn't go deep enough to worry about cutting into the exhaust. I have the tray pretty clean but it still has a little bit of old glue left. Can anyone with experience answer this question-Is it necessary to have the tray completely stripped (like new looking) and totally glueless before the new turf goes on? I can get it that way with more elbow grease but I don't really want to waste my time if it is not crucial.

I got the ADA Head torqued down, Jetinetics flywheel on, gas tank back in and footholds cut in. It is coming along pretty good.

Is it pretty normal for the footholds to not sit completely flat along the hull surface especially in the back of the hull where it kicks up a bit? I assume it will all mold in real nice when it is bolted in and the epoxy dries?
