Should there be any reason to have a air leak within the red box in my picture??
When I turn my motor by hand I can hear a really bad leak coming from the area in the red box! I put a little part of paper towl over the crack and when I turn the motor by hand, sure enough, the paper towl is blown upward! Not sure if this is normal?

I have bosen reeds also.

take that manifold off, replace the gaskets, tighten the bolts, and try the same test.

I use permatex copper spray on many gaskets and re-use them if they arent torn or ripped in the dissasembly process.

I just shot a bunch of this foamy oil i just found in my garage down the crack!

It seem to be coming from the bottom gasket on the carb manifold!!

thanks, looks like I have to make a gasket tonight!!

i would get an oem or equal quality gasket for that one. cheap fiber material
does not make good intake gaskets.

Air escaping from a sealed area. Of course its not normal.

What's funny?

Spending $300 on OEM parts, spending $130 on a s/s switch, splicing plug wires, and making intake gaskets out of spittle?

i cant believe he just said what he said...dirk ofcourse its not normal for air to escape there...the only escaping air should be going OUT the exhaust.

Are you guys sure its the intake? where the X is looks like a base gasket to me...either way you need an OWM gasket not a DO-IT-YOURSELF gasket material. OEM GASKETS ARENT EXPENSIVE MAN!!

maybe the skigoboom thing will happen before the spark plug wire shorts out...it will happen from the motor running lean and blowing a piston apart...
