I got my new midshaft assembly in and went to put a spare pump/driveshaft in and it wont slide all the way in. I put the old one witht the toasted bearing in there and it slides right up!

The one that fits says 6r8-01 s2 on the pump. The one that does not fit says 6r8 s1. I take it this is from something else:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Ok so now how hard is it to rebuild a pump? I guess I can rebuild the one that is fitting but the splines are kinda beat up and the bearing is toast:banghead: :banghead:

I really dont know what to do. I feel like selling everything I own right now:frown:

Does anyone know who can rebuild a pump and clean up my splines like overnight or can I just do it myself?

I have never rebuilt a pump. Is this about what I would need?

I just had this same problem last week. The pump was about 1/2" from touching the pump shoe. DO NOT FORCE IT! The intermediate shaft is pressed in and I had to take it to my local shop to have them press re-press it. Its also possible it is the driveshaft because that is also pressed in to the pump bearings.

I think I'm just a tard.

I pulled the motor back out, pulled the mid back out and slid it directly on to my long. It kept hitting something so I looked up in the short and all was fine. Then I just slammed the mid down on the long and it F'ing went on:banghead:

I put the pump on first, then slammed the mid on from the inside and no problem:smile:

Motor back in, pipe back in...went ridin and all is well.

Except I could not get my 13/16 to even think about coming off of the old pump so I rode with what was on it. LAME!! in comparison to the 13/16.:notworthy:

Can I heat up a prop to get it off?

Did you grease up the shaft before you put it on? I recently ran into the same problem. I put grease on it, slide it back on, and it stopped. I am curious if the grease is causing a hydraulic block if you will.

yes, if theres too much grease in the short shaft, or on the end of the driveshaft, itll "hydrolock" when all the air is squeezed out.

If the pump and driveshaft wont go into the intermediate housing short shaft, it is usually because they are misaligned. This can be caused by the motor not being shimmed properly thus pushing down or pulling up on the short shaft. This could be your problem, the long shaft should slide easily into the short. I had this problem on a Blaster and I fought it until I re shimmed the motor and viola it fit like a glove every time.

I did have some grease on and in there. It may have been grease-dro-locked but it felt more like a small ridge or something.

I have never seen a prop this hard to get off though. I mean my GOD man! Is it because the pump bearing was shot and it heated up or something? This F'er does not want to budge. I have the proper prop tools, just no torch. Should I heat up the prop?

It usually take me a few tries (and cursing) to get a pump back on... if you use the dowel pins on the wear ring like you're supposed to, the shafts won't line up properly.

i never had that problem. ive installed stubborn pumps but i never omit the pins.
