These damn stitches

I'm tired of them. They need to come out NOW. :aargh4: :aargh4:

My leg is mostly healed up, I've been off crutches and drugs for over a week now. Now the stitches just get caught on things, and it's obnoxious. I keep them covered with non-stick gauss.....but the stitches snag sometimes when I walk. It doesn't hurt....it's just a weird uncomfortable sensation.

Doctor said they'd come out in 14 days on their own. That's Saturday. I think I might have to encourage them.

:crutches: :shooter3:

I took the stitches I had out my self. I shattered my patela. So I had a long cut down the middle of my knee.

The staples were not that hard to take out.

LOL - me too..but mine only broke in half...left a nice 8" long zipper. The worst part about that whole deal was the stiff skin everytime I tried to flex knee +2 degrees. 6 months of therapy sucked!

But if this was only superficial cut, I would remove them yourself after 10 day.

Do you have any feeling on the left side of your knee. Mine is still numb after 5 years.

be careful, I ripped my wound open several times before it actually healed.
.....and that was after the stiches were out

dont they just fall out on their own?

my friends always pull my stitches out for me. we never wait either.

as long as its healed enough where it wont rip open on its own.

use butterfly bandages and neosporin. the triage of champions.

Supposedly, they are supposed to. That's what the doc said. That's kind of what I meant about "encouraging them".

Dude, it's sooooo healed, no way is it ripping open on it's own. The only parts not all healed is where the damn punctures from the stitches are....and that might have something to do with the fact that there are these thread like things sticking out of them.

dude, pull 'em out. it even feels cool to feel the stitches coming through the skin. i don't remember it hurting.

i was in a car accident a few years ago.. i was sitting shotgun in a vw bug, had my hand out the windown and the car rolled over.. my arm got pretty mangled.. but we took my stitches out ourselves too... havent had stitches since then, so i shouldnt say 'always'.. rather, i did pull my own stitches out too.. well, my friends pulled them out.. argh.. you get the picture.. stupid semantics.

it does feel awesome pulling them out...:Banane01:

take them out at 10 days any longer and you will get the train tracks (so says a doctor). i left mine in for 12 days and had to cut the scab to get at the knots. 3 weeks later and two of the internal stitches have shown up through the scab. its going to leave a nice 4 inch scar on my shin though!
