Well I expanded it out today. Had to grind some more off the kenny keepers to push the engine out that extra bit. I'm sitting right at .137" (3.5mm) now. That gap looks like the grand canyon compared to what I originally had.

...and yes I realize the bilge pump is too close right now. It was ground down on the SN and when everything is hooked up, it's pulled away from the mid shaft now.

Backflip attempts will come when it's warmer... You can say I'm in infected with vagintitus or call me a wuss but I'm not interested in spending an extended amount of time with my head underwater when it's cold.

I rode on Friday briefly with a stock turn plate and some 4° (I think) bars. Either way, my steering moved back 3 inches and the ride was much nicer and more comfortable. The only problem was that I lost my quick steering ratio from the x-metal steering and I needed to adjust the steering cable so I lost even more steering authority because of that. I think if I moved the steering up just a hair and get my quick steer back, it'll be perfect... Can you tell how anal I am yet? lol

Ok I adjusted the steering cable and that made things a lot better. I've got a cold fusion turn plate coming as well and that could take off an inch on the steering if I decide I need it. Someone asked me about how high I was actually getting so here is a quick video. Might want to expand it a bit more because it's pretty low quality and I tried to get as close as possible but my neighbors docks kinda get in the way.

Keep in mind this is a 61x/61x engine with a stock single 44 carb, total loss, b pipe, and a 9/15 hooker impeller. Other than that, the ski has fairly basic mods done to it. I'm 165 lbs but all suited up in cold gear and soaking wet, I'm probably closer to 190 or more.

Well I'll officially make the offer.... If you're close by, just PM me if you want to try this hull out. I will make one stipulation though. I'm not handing my ski over to a complete noob so at least know what you're doing. I have a ramp 200 yards from my house so I recommend you bring your ski as well and ride around for a little bit.

You are too nice John. Anyone can come and ride my green ski too. Just bring $6000 with you. LOL. I may be selling it Sunday anyway.

what about the grinding noise?

Still present. I can't figure it out. It does it out of water too and usually at very low rpms. I turned the idle up a tad and it creeps up less frequently. I may give it another quarter turn. I did have the ski completely shut off on me today but it fired right back up... It did that last year at the beginning of a ride because the ignition switch was going out so I'll check into that.
