I am a fan of Slippery Comp boots ! I have landed Big backflips Flat and I believe without them, I would of broken my ankles on multiple occasions.

I have seen buddies go the same height and brake ankles with wrestling shoes.

nrs work boot

I have been looking for the right shoe that's comfortable and covers my ankles for freestyle / surf riding.. I have been looking at the slippery siphon boot and jet pilot holeshot boot, what do you guys wear and like best?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
These will protect your feet and they have a built in booty to keep your feet warm. They last a couple years. Long ago before JK had any sponsors I rode with him in Oceanside and he liked to go barefoot. Kung Foo style. I broke my big tow on my left foot which never healed correctly. I have to wear them.I've tried all the rest. These work for me. Nrs is a company that sells kayak and white water rafting stuff. Lake Mead has some interesting stuff on the bottom.

personally I think it is crazy to ride in the surf (flips, rolls etc etc) barefoot. Granted at the lake I ride my SXR barefoot, but that the only time.

i have yet to have a foot injury of any kind...i think the easiest time to get any kind of hand or foot injury is doing reentries or off the lip type maneuvers where you are basically throwing yourself into the breaking part of the wave, you can get some major impacts there, that you cannot always judge your landing, rather than jumping out the back of the wave..it would be allot easier to stick a hand or foot in the pole area and get it smashed..wrestling shoes arnt going to help you from crushing a heal...plus you cant swim in shoes...but i understand why people feel uncomfortable without them, i wear shoes as little as possible anyways, ive never even felt comfortable surfing in booties even when the water is cold..

So I gather as far as the shoe thing goes its personal pref..

I used to wear random tennis shoes with a low sole, but the ski's have changed so much since I stopped riding.. I just wanted to get an idea from all the pros on what the best shoe shiat was overall nowadays..

Asic wrestling treads seem to be the choice so far on this site.. Except for the great pancake pete, but I'm not planning on jumping 90' into a vertical half piked twirl re-entry backflip

yeah, you say that now... he he

I use the Slippery Comp's also. People talk about them only holding up a few months, but look at the environment they are used in. Water. It gets wet, then dries, then wet, then dries........... How long do running shoes last?? 2 months or so if your an active runner....... The expense of them is really not that bad. I get about a 1 - 1 1/2 seasons out of a pair.

holy crap bro... those are some serious boots. looks like great ankle support though. how's the fit into footholds?

i've had slippery comp boots for some time... i switched to Asics this year and love them... but they will not be warm enough this winter.

I don't know how to back flip or barell roll so I don't have foot holds or straps so I can't answer that one. I have a kick tail and an old trusy 650 limited sn. I really enjoy riding with the wave and trying to learn new things. Boots Warm oh, YES

Andrew how in the #@$&* do you ride barefoot in the winter? Even with our mild San Diego winters, the water here in Oceanside gets down to as low as 58 degrees which makes my hands and feet go numb. I know the water where your at is even colder- what’s your secret? You just man-up and ride with numb feet?
