Just think of it as one big spare part.
So what do I need to do in order to run the 750? What do I need to look for and what do I need to fix?
Just think of it as one big spare part.
Well the 750 is in, ready to brap, poured some gas into the carbs and fired it up. B R A A A A P P P ! ! ! ! it goes, then I see the smoke, fried wires coming into the ebox,
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: .
Oh and a special thanks to Matt_E for the wiring help last night.
Important lesson number two. Don't allow people who have been drinking to rewire your ski at 2 AM
Time to pull the 750 out and do some more work. On the positive side, I'm getting dang good at taking this thing apart and putting it back together.
If you have to go to all that trouble, perhaps just install a 650 electric package, stator, flywheel, front cover, cdi, etc.. Those 750 stators are known for problems anyway, and the 650 has a better timing curve stock. Or just do the 650 motor for now, the ocean is no place for a boat thats not fully tested. You won't need the extra power I assure you, you will spend most of your time trying to stay on the dang thing!Hey now....first of all, I had ONE drink all night. Second, we did the wiring far before 2 am.
Third, I am just a hack. Proven again.:frown:
I will get that stator out tomorrow and start rewiring. Sorry man.... I feel awful. :frown:

eh, I could've pinched a wire as well. . .
Don't I have to have some stuff machined in order to run 650 electronics? I'm not opposed to just throwing the 650 back in there for the beach ride. 14 foot surf is
Crab if you're gonna be around I'll try and call you this afternoon. . .
Is this "Crack Machine" ever going to see the river?
I think you will need antique insurance by the time you get this going!okey:
#2 sounds like the carbs need time to pressure up, as they probably go lean until it builds pressure. Check the one way valve at the tank, it absolutly must be working properly, also try a direct fuel line from the tank to the carb and bypass the fuel selector, the shortest line lets the carbs pressure up faster. Another problem could be worn needle and seats, check them with a popoff tester for leakage. How was the overall power?Well the X2 ran good for the first time since. . . . [crickets]. . . . .[more crickets]. . . . . well it ran good for the first time since I got the ski. . . I even had to tow in a SJ today. :bs2:. There are still a couple of problems
1. The throttle cable is binding which should be a fairly easy fix I just need to cut off a bracket on the front of the engine
2. The ski is just a little bit sluggish off the bottom. However that only happens sometimes, like when it's been sitting for a little bit or when I fall hard. When I killed the ski it would fire right up but if had been sitting for a while you had to idle it for about 10-15 seconds before you hit the throttle or it would die.
#1 is gong to be an easy fix.
#2 I don't really know where to start any ideas???
