I was just out dinking with it in the garage and I have spark. It's sat dead since last August.
Last summer I was having some issues with my beloved "short bus", all electrical. excessive draw, non charging batteries, weak starter...that kinda thing. About 10 minutes after putting it in the water, I did a stab. surfaced, it idled for a sec and died. never to start again for the remainder of the season. No spark at all. so I tested the coild, ect. everything checked out, but no spark. so I winterised it and called it done, pending a desicion on whether it was worth fixing.
A couple months ago I got an SXI, so I had to make a desision on the short bus. Fix it or part it. there was no way I was dumping a ton of money into the ski... it's not practical. So I desided to give it another go at getting it to fire. if I couldnt ge it going, then it's getting parted out.
Well after sitting for 6mo untouched, it popped and fired it didnt run since all the fuel was drained out, but it lookes like it wants to run.
So, I'm gonna rewire it AGAIN, and get new fuel lines since these are getting pretty hard, and get it running and use it for my back up ski.
I'm glad, it's not in bad shape and I have almost NO money in it. Plus my son likes to ride it.
anyone got a line on a cheap starter for a 550?
