I also have a 175 jet in the fuel return line. Not sure if I need it with these OEM 44mm carbs, but I don't think it will hurt?

You don't need it. And if you did, it be far too big. A typical return line restrictor is 60-80.

Great looking FX1

Thanks for all the feedback.

About my eye, hope you learn from my experience. The grind job was honestly a 15 second job, touch and go in 3 places. Why I actually grabbed my safety glasses is beyond me, as typically I would not have.

There was no possibility of reacting either, it actually took some time on the floor, in a pool of blood, with a "walking/wobbling" grinder for me to realize what happened.

holy crap!!! you got a a closeup of that eyeball????

nice paint booth!

No close-up of the eye-ball, sorry. No real damage to the eye, not even a scratched cornea. The glasses did their trick. Just a fractured orbital and nose.

The pic was taken a few days after the incident, when the swelling went down enough for me to actually see.

Kenny keepers don't work on the FX1. Thought I could modify them to work, but can't. I have a stainless steel rope tether concept I plan to evaluate. Drill and tap bedplates and use a motor mount bolt.

Going to make a pole limiting rope, and may install the hood straps. With blowsions lowered bracket, I'll be drilling and tapping the bracket to do the hood straps right. Have to think that through some more, and talk to the FX1 guys about the importance of hood straps.

Turf arrived, and the last 3 parts (2 tank straps and an OEM hood seal) should be here next week. John at Greater Yamaha hooked me up, and had to pull some strings to get the FX1 tank straps that have been on backorder for months.

So my progress slowed a bit due to work killing my free time, but I have managed to get the ski running and finish some of the minor details, including turf. Latest pictures attached.

I learned that if you have carbs with the restrictor drilled out, a size 100 main jet in the return line does not give enough fuel pressure. I was running lean on the stand until i used a size 60 main jet in the line (thanks Matt). That cleared up the problem... but not before I pressure checked the motor a few times and rebuilt the carbs/fuel system looking for the problem. I made an educated guess at the carb jetting, so tuning on water may provide hours of fun.

Next up is some custom graphics, hood straps and a pole rope, and some x-metal risers (using stock F/A's for surf). Also going to work on getting a bit more throw on the steering nozzle. I have an extension on the steering cable that Blowsion supplies in the pump kit, but I think I can get some more with a few "adjustments". The nozzle isn't hitting the pump, yet.

great Idea on the fuel pump mounting. i am sure you will like the hookup difference of the 144 pump, but it will be NOTHING like your 140 mag bro, shoulda mounted that up in there.
