Does anyone here know how much I need/can tap the cases? Since I fried my 750 electronics (just the ground wire thankfully and not the stator as well:cheer: ). So who's done this and remembers how much you tapped the cases. . .

How come you don't just ask me? I can probe my 750 cases and get you an exact depth. Put up a picture when you get the flywheel off. I want to see the stator mounting flanges.

Are you talking depth at which you can go to.You have to also machine a slight amount (2 boses where the stator sits) out for the O.D. of the stator to align it to be center with the crank.I did mine by chucking the whole engine in a lathe because
i did not want to disassemble it but I am sure it can be done with a dremel if you are careful and make some kind of template to go buy.

did you get the info you need?
Don't think so, I measure 5/8" max on the top hole, and 3/4" should be good on the bottom as there is more meat in the casting. The top one is where you must be carefull not to penetrate into the crank area. Someone back me up here.

Drill 21mm deep. Use a piece of electrical tape and tape the drill bit off at 21mm so you know where to stop if you dont have a better method.

This info is coming from MSD instructions for drilling and tapping 750 cases to accept a stator plate behind the flywheel
