Need to know the keys to hit while my Dell computer is starting up to do a system restore. I did it once about a year ago but forget the keys it was controll something?

just look at at the bottom of the boot screen. it tells ya. they are all different, even across dells. F5, F8, F10 F11 are the common ones.

A system restore can only be done from the system restore CD.


To access the boot options, start hitting f8 right after the POST screen disappears.

I think he means restore to a previous known good starting point. You don't need a disc for that. If you were going to do a system recovery, you would need the disc.
 
some puters dont need the disk and can reinstall from the hard drive, usually initiated by an f key.

if youre able to boot up and simply want to restore to a previous state, its start/programs/accessories/system restore.

It should be control F11 or alt F11 to get to the restore partition on the hard drive.

The choose manual or advanced and go from there.
